CrackerBarrel - OMG!!!!
I am interested on why you say grits can't be healthy. Do you mean in the same way white rice is not healthy? I know most folks slather grits with butter and salt and some even add jelly to their grits (tried that and not my taste) and of course, there is the ultimate grits - cheese grits!
I ask because during maintenance I have made plain grits (white or yellow) and had 2 TBS with a meal - no butter, just a little salt maybe, but I do limit it to 2 TBS. While they are a "super charged carb" the limited amount doesn't really impact my carb numbers for the day. Also, grits is not a trigger food for me.
Yes, what I meant was it's just a "pure carb". I guess I miss the big ass bowl of grits with tons of cheese and ketchup (I know, but that's how I like them LOL). But, I'm 99.9% sure they'd be a trigger for me, so I don't bother.
Maybe one day, but not now.
But... I definitely do get what you're saying. You're a rockstar if you can eat just a couple of tablespoons. LOL!

Rock star with grits and mashed potatoes, maybe. Put an effing cookie in my mouth and I'm like a damn crack addict. I want the next one before I'm done with the first. It's simply awful. I don't understand it, but I"m sure it's some sort of chemical/pyscho-emotional response to the glory of the Cookie.
I was talking with a friend last night about just that - how up until I take the first bite of a cookie (chocolate, cake, etc...) it is a choice. After the first bite something can kick in and it almost feels as if there is no choice but to continue. Now I know that's not true, but making the choice to not eat the XX after the first bite is SOOOOOOOOO much harder than if I had just abstained in the first place. Does that make sense?

Now you know a Southern's pain when trying to lose weigh!!. All that food is something that my grandma would cook on a normal Sunday lunch. FYI the greens aren't friend they're boiled down with (well I'm not going to tell you that part). There is a restaurant here in NC that I am going to for the last time before my WLS. It's the best home comfort food I've had! For someone that's grown up with a Cracker Barrel all her life I can say your self control was something to be admired.
kairk, I laughed at your description. It is okay to go off plan occasionally . The important part is getting back on plan.
i recently returned from a 2 week trip and although I made healthier choices most of the time, I did eat off plan at times, but not everyday and came back down about 1.4 lbs. I was appalled at the restaurant size portions and usually boxed up the remaining food, so that I was able to get 2-3 more meals out of it. The people that I was traveling with, ate EVERYTHING on their plates and they were shocked by how little I ate in comparison to their meals. Breakfast was my favorite meal, because I could eat 2 eggs and some bacon and be done with it. Other meals were just too large and it was great to have leftovers.
you are a great writer and I was totally in the restaurant with you. -:)

Will do. I figure it will take 2 weeks. Took a week to put on and for me, it is usually double the time to take it off. Not worried though. I follow your example - plan in place, food at the ready, etc..... I was down .6 pounds today from yesterday.
We are driving to Long Beach tomorrow for a weekend of shows. This is an annual show trip we make and one on which Ron likes to accompany me. (He's pretty selective about which shows he will go to.) We have already picked our dining places so that nothing is left to chance when it comes to dinner and did a little shopping for take along go to foods for breakfast and lunch.
I will tell you what amazed me yesterday was how easy it was to just hop right back on plan. The sleeve is a powerful gift and when treated as it should be treated it really goes to work for me. So much of this journey is about the emotional aspect of our obesity that it is easy to lose sight of what our sleeves can really do for us, if we get out of the way and do as we should.
We have Cracker Barrels here. They are the biggest fat person head **** I've ever seen. Not only are you required to walk though the "store" to get to the restaurant, when I was fat, I'd run into ever freaking display. We went to a Cracker Barrel back east last year during our vacation and I was able to easily move around the store--not a good thing. They make sure you have to walk past all their homemade candy, jelly, etc.
Glad you are home safe. Let the decarbing begin.
