I know that there are many different versions of the pre-op diets.  On mine, I was allowed only my shakes and some cooked or raw veggies each day; nothing else.  I would check with your dietician/doctor to make sure.....sorry I guess that's not much help. :(

I would think that it wouldn't be on the doctor's list.  Every doctor is different but they put you on a pre-op diet based on what they need you to do so you can be at your best when they operate on you.  I wouldn't put myself at risk for anything by not staying on my doctor's plan.

Many will disagree with me and that's the beauty of a public forum.  This is just my gut feeling.  Have some pudding!

frozen yogurt usually has lots of sugar and therefore carb. If the purpose of your preop diet is to shrink your liver, then it would not be a good choice.

On my clear liquid diet it suggested dannon lite and fit drinkable yogurt. I couldn't find it in my stores.  It also said NO chunks of fruit in it at all.

Only if you can find it sugar free. The sugar is what will get you, not the yogurt.

anyone have a recipe to make your own frozen yogurt?  like with flavored syrups or artifical sweeteners (maybe some fruit)?  I've tried jsut freezing it but it turns icey and a bit too hard.

Do you have an ice cream maker? I bought a really reasonable cuisinart one for about $30... usually I just put in some greek yogurt with sweetener or flavoured syrup...to give it a better consistency I add a bit of xantham gum (plant fibre) because it thickens the mixture.  Guar gum is similar, as well, and the machine helps mix it in to keep it smooth and creamy. YUM! There are so many possibilities!

Would it work with RTD shakes as well? I really enjoy Total Lean Strawberry shakes and think they'd be good frozen...(and I love kitchen toys)
