Baths post op?

What is the issue with showers and baths? Or swimming? How long until you can swim or soak? I'm a huge bath person so I'm just curious?

I was told no baths, but I could shower.  I didn't shower until 3 days post-op though because I was in so much pain. 

Ok how long no baths? A week 2? A month?

That's a good question, I didn't ask.  I would assume until all your incisions are closed, so about a month to six weeks?  That's when my doctor said I could get into a swimming pool again.

It was two weeks for me.  It just depends on how well you heal up and what your Doc says after your post-op app. I could shower after I was released from the hospital using an anti-bacterial soap and not touching the incisions.  My doc told me that I could swim and take baths after I had my post-op app.

I could shower at the hospital and did.  I was told no baths, swimming or hot tubs until healed, 6 weeks.

I could shower the day after surgery, but doc says no immersion till my 6 week checkup. I am ok with this. 4 routes of direct access to my peritoneal cavity is nothing to mess with.
