Prevacid just quit?

VSG on 06/12/13
I have been on Prevacid since week two and its been doing great for me. Now, for the past two days, it is like I haven't even taken it. Anybody have this happen or know what's going on? Do people switch ppi's every so often because their bodies become accustomed?

I've been on Prevacid for 4 1/2 years and it still works like a charm. I take one about every 3rd day.

My Prilosec was working great but then I developed an allergy.  Next I tried Tagament, worked for a few days and then "quit".  Then it was on to Zantac 150; it seemed to be working too and then "quit" after a couple weeks.  Now I'm on Protonix and it appears to be working well, although lately I've had some breakthrough acid in the evening.  I'm only taking one a day so at my next appt we'll talk about if I need to bump that up to two.

Bottom line:  yeah, I think PPIs can "quit" on you.

Definitely.  I've switched three times.  Nexium is working for me now.

I've been on ALL of them.  I currently take prescription Prilosec twice a day, and 1 ZANTAC right before bed.  I have Nexium, too, I was on the Max dose for the past 3 months, 80 mgs a day.  Keep asking for help from your surgeon, or Gastro doc.  I have a Gastro doc since my issues were so crazy!
