Out of the hospital yesterday
Joy! Congratulations!
The first postop week is W O R K. It took me four days to get up 64 ounces in, and I had to fight for every stinkin' ounce. You have to get your fluids in, experimenting as has been mentioned with different types and temps. That's on top of pain, fatigue, emotions ...
It definitely, definitely gets better. Get those fluids in somehow, kitten sips at a time, so you keep progressing and healing.
I had my surgery a day before you and yesterday was AWFUL. However, I was on a very long flight home and had to do a great deal of walking. When I got home at 1:00 am I collapsed in the recliner and slept for 10 hours straight. The good news is that today I feel better. It doesn't hurt quite as much to drink unless I forget to sip. Still don't feel like running the races but am markedly better. And sugar free jello is the GREATEST!!! I am only to 20 oz. right now, but this is the best I have done so far and I will be able to get more liquid in before I go to bed. So, hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day for you too.
Thanks for ur honesty. I would have died if I had to walk through an airport and sit on a plane. I was in the hospital 2 nights and just starting to get fluids in. Today's been better than yesterday. This site makes it seem so easy. It's NOT AT ALL EASY! I know I'm a whimp but I hate pain n my first day I was sick and dizzy and in so much pain. Thank God my doc let me stay an extra day.
