What's Your Workout Today VSGers? - Sunday!
Started immediately after event - had easily a gallon in the 4-6 hours after the event and continuing on today. Tough ride - 10,500 feet of climbing, which is a lot for a "flatlander" like me. The cycling people just LOVE to put as many nasty hills on a course as they can pack in. With 15km to go, I fooled myself into thinking the worst was over, they managed to put 3 grim ones in that short distance.
As a trivia note, the ride began and ended in the parking lot of Land's End world HQ, and they were big supporters of the race.
For any of you that live in the Minneapolis to Chicago corridor, the Wisconsin Triple Crown (of which this was the 3rd and final event) are three great, well-organized and timed races/rides that offer multiple distances (50k to 200k typically, but this last one also allowed you to do 300k). They're around six weeks apart (May, June, and August). Very challenging, but doable. If you complete all three in a season they send you custom printed jersey with your name and distances you did in each event. I'd say a third of the riders were wearing their jersey from last year. I guess they have some sort of points standing for people that do all three that awards points for time and distance.
