Rumbly in the tumbly: acid?

VSG on 06/12/13
I'm 9.5 weeks out, normal diet, everything is going well, but my tummy has developed an annoying new habit that I am wondering if it is acid. I am taking a Pepcid each day.

My stomach is rumbling almost constantly. It feels like bubbling. I feel a contraction, and then bubbling. In my previous life, I would have called these hunger pangs but I'm not hungry. I'm averaging 600-800 calories per day, so I don't think it is hunger. I don't think it's gas, at least it isn't coming out as farts, but I do feel better if I burp. It does it when my stomach is empty or after I eat or drink. It started a few days ago.

What is this? I have one more Pepcid left, and then I am switching PPI's to see if it helps.

Thanks, Laurie

I've read past posts from vets that say their tummy talks to them with growls and grunts all the time lol hope that helps!

It happens to me too and I am not hungry either.  I am 4 wks out and on soft foods.  I don't think it is anything to be concerned about but call your doctor and see what he has to say then give us an answer too.  Perhaps digestion noises!

Good Luck....alese

Well, I am only 10 days out, it happens to me and it most certainly feels like hunger because I feel hungry.  It's very frustrating....

Yeah, early on there was a bunch of racket in there (I described it as a bear living inside a volcano), but things had really quieted down before they recently got noisy again.

It's not painful, just annoying/distracting.

Thanks for the ideas, though!

Mine does that all the time... and it can get loud! I call my tummy Frankenbelly and the hub usually starts laughing and yelling out "It's ALIVE!"  kiss I just sip some water, walk around then burp a little. That seems to help a wee bit.

I am 5 weeks out and have the same issue, I am on a PPI. At first I had the grumbly noises but this is different, there really is no noise, just all this bubbly sensation in my stomach that feels like hunger. I don't feel like I need to burp though.

I am not getting but about 500 calories a day and that is with protein shakes. Just have not ventured out in the food section, I think I'm scared!!!! So I am gonna work on that part. Get my calories up some.

Glad to know I am not alone, but it is very annoying and distracting because it does feel like hunger pains.

I hope someone offers you some good advice, I am willing to try whatever to make it stop.

It definitely could be acid.  I find that as I add new foods my stomach gives me very clear signals about what it "likes" and doesn't like.   Certain things seem to stir up more acid and I'll get that bubbly, acidy kind of feeling.

I'm on Protonics, which has been a godsend because I was having horrible reflux too.  But I've noticed that I've been having some break-through acid when I eat certain things.

So this is going to sound really dumb, but I think I just had an AHA moment -
Acid is different than reflux. I'm not having heartburn like I do if I forget to take my Pepcid. My chest doesn't hurt. BUT, I do have that rumbly bubbly feeling and THAT could be acid that is not popping up into my esophagus?

If it is, this is starting to make sense.

Thanks!
Laurie
