Dumping? Puking. Blah
I ate too much yesterday I am 1 week and 2 days post op and can't eat I feel like I'm starving so yesterday thinking I'm feeling "better" I ate about four bites and got sweaty, dizzy and puked I think foamies. It wasn't projectile only like a mouthful but I may have ate too fast. Is this dumping? Please tell me it gets better.
Definitely not dumping. Sounds like you overdid it way too early. You need to check your plan and see if you are even cleared to eat solids yet. This is important. You could seriously hurt yourself.
And just FYI, dumping occurs when you eat too much sugar and the pancreas freaks out, causing your body to get rid of it via diarrhea.

I don't mean to add to the already...you sure you are cleared for soft solids??? but really...it sounds like you're too early for that..for instance my docs food plan..I have to wait three weeks before I can even introduce things like yogurt or thin mashed potatoes, etc. I think it would be in your best interest to call your dietician and talk about what stage you're supposed to be in. Again..not trying to beat you over the head with this..just saying you might have misunderstood and checking for sure would be the best thing to do. Good luck...hope you feel better real soon.
You ate too much, too fast. No, that's not dumping.
You are NOT going to starve. You've irritated your stomach and need to back off anything thick. Concentrate on fluids and clear liquids. Chicken broth is a good idea. And figure out how to start getting your protein in. I was never thrilled with the shakes, but they do the job. If they're hard to get down, thin them out with water, hold your nose, and sip. This is a short term problem, and it'll get better as you can transition to more regular food.
try going back to just liquids. If you can't tolerate thicker "liquids", go back to what works. You won't starve. Does you tummy actually feel hungry? Or is it your head saying you are starving? I felt this way to. I'm two weeks out and thought i have to eat something! For the most part, I'm not super hungry and think I have to eat, right? So if I take a bite, I try to slow down and wait before I take another bite. I struggle with slowing down.
maybe try some diluted juice for the calories or go back to your protein shakes. you can thin the protein shakes with fat free milk. Add time between sips and drinks so you don't over do it.Just a thought.
Take it easy and only take in what you tolerate and stop when your tummy says full.
hope this help!
It's weird to not eat I'm getting headaches and feel weak and dizzy so I'm sure it's cuz I'm hungry I'm not getting enough in because I can't force much down. It'll be ok, I am actually starting to like hating food. Since our serious break up a week and 2 days ago, most little things I've tried even the discussing protein shakes make me gag, so ill live on cottage cheese and chicken broth I guess. I don't know y I can eat cottage cheese but not cream of wheat and other stuff. And my nut said thick liquids are fine even cottage cheese.
the first 3 months, i felt like that, but it gets better. make sure you stick to your puree foods, the softer the better. On my first month, i was only good with shakes, yogurt, gelatin, soups, creams. At my 3rd week, I tried scramble eggs, was not good, so i stay with the liquid, creamy stuff, for at leasts, 2 more weeks. it will pass and soon, it will be just a memory, trust me, but take it easy and don't forget to sip on your water.
