PS surgery date!

Pretty excited- got my PS date for abdominoplasty.  Some of you may recall I was really torn about when to do it due to other health concerns and not being sure about how the impending health insurance change would affect me.  Decided to do it over the Christmas break.  Completely awful that I have to miss 3 weeks or so of class, but I am expecting to have to go in for more major surgery over the summer break and would rather have the longer time period for that particular surgery.  So with insurance my portion will be $2,000.  Not real sure how the hospital will prorate things up, but plan on going through with it despite potential costs there.  The secretary at the docs said the people with my type of insurance has never mentioned hospital costs thrown in (I have great insurance) so keeping my fingers crossed.

So looking forward to getting rid of the gut that won't go away!

very happy for you!  i look forward to seeing you progress through this.  Its definitely in my future way down the road ... I'm about 100x times more worried about this procedure than the VSG itself!  But you have worked hard, living healthy, and deserve to completely look like it! just another short term hurdle.  :)

Thank you Pete- I can't wait!  Not looking forward to the pain part, but I usually weather surgeries well so it should be all good.

Yes- I was super happy when I received the preauthorization letter.  I really didn't think they would approve it (although it is surely needed).  The doc I went to was referred to me and she mentioned he is really good at getting the surgery approved- and that he did!

Excited for you! I have made the inside decision to have the abdominal -plasty ( and would like to have the arms done, too) and have set a flex account to do it- will be self pay. Other than that, I haven't ventured. Am teaching, too and looking at maybe spring break and a few weeks beyond for recovery(time to conserve sick days- depleted somewhat because of the WLS in Dec.). Am looking forward to your adventure and breath a prayer for health and a great outcome over you. Keep us posted! It's always good to learn from those who tread the snow down before us. Smiling at you today, Bonnie

We are for the first time this year getting a flex account, but I don't know if it starts in September or January- here is hoping it is September!  That would take a nice little chunk out of the $2,000 at tax return time!  I will try to post letting you know how the process goes and how it relates to returning to the classroom.  Can't wait for a flat tummy!
