What's Your Workout Today VSGers? - Tuesday! Is anyone still interested in this thread?
Well the theme for today seems to be that people feel like their workout aren't worth talking about but remember that every little bit you do is a LOT more than those sitting around doing nothing.
30 minutes of strength training is fantastic. Not sure what standard you are shooting for here but that is better than the person who sees the thread and thinks "Oh yeah, I should probably work out and then changes the channel".
Be proud of your 30 min workout I am proud of you for it!
That's fantastics. Week 3 was the one that killed me and I had to repeat. I just had no stamina back then. Seems so long ago but it really wasn't that long ago. The rest of the time flies and suddenly you are running 3 miles without stopping and you will be like "What the heck!"
You are stronger today than you were yesterday and that is all that counts!
Today was a leisurely 5 mile jog (completed in 45:12 with 9:12 miles splits), good deep stretching, and my push ups....I started a Push Up improver plan this week with a set goal of completing 50 good military style push ups in 2:00, I did 29 on my pre-test last week! Husband is doing this with me :). And I love this post! I try and respond every time I see it posted!
We will be doing 400 meter sprints tomorrow too! I think we have 7 on the docket at this point. Just remember (as I'm sure you know) that speed training is not meant to fun or relaxing...it pretty much sucks, and is torture and basically means "run till you puke or die..." Whichever comes first. If you're shooting for 8 minute miles than you need to be hitting 2:00-2:05 1/4 mile splits. We do a full 2:00 rest in between, no walking or anything...just drinking water and catching our breath, stretching legs as needed. :). Good luck! I hit 1:37 splits last week...hoping for 1:35 this week! Just remember the key is to hit all your splits in the same time...it will help you learn to "feel" the pace. Your first should be 2:00 and your last should be 2:00....or whatever split you decide to try for :)
WOW Impressive. The issue I have to work through and have been working on is about 2 mins into any run I get the "flight" sensation. My legs feel fatigued. I logically know if I ignore that feeling I will be fine. I have been working this week on embracing that feelling. Like actually saying in my head "oh yeah, there it, let's do this" and stuff like that. Today in my Orange Theory class we ran at an incline. We did 4 reps at 5%, 10% and 15%. I did most of them at 5mph but I did my last 2 at 6 and 7mph at 15% so I got that feeling a lot today and I just powered through. If I can get past that, then I should not have any problem. I have never sprinted 400m before so tomorrow will be an experiment/moment of truth, but I will shoot for that 2:00 mark and see where I end up.
The most sprints that I have done are 10 60 m sprints with about 2mins of rest in between. That was about 4 months ago and I have done quite a bit of running since then so my confidence is high.
