What's Your Workout Today VSGers? - Tuesday! Is anyone still interested in this thread?
I'm new to this site and just found your thread. So far I love it! It's always good to get some support from others. I'm doing my first 5K this Saturday. Can by no means run/jog the whole thing, but did my 3.25 miles routine tonight in 42:35. Just started "training" about 9 weeks ago.
Thanks for taking the time to do this!
That is fantastic! You will be surprised in the race what happens. You get energized by the other people running. Don't worry you will get tired but you will be surprised. You will find yourself running a little faster than in your training and a little bit farther and then you will find a person and think "I can run faster than that 90 year old man with a cane" and you will until you slow down and he passes you, then you will sprint past him because you are like I am not going to let that ******* beat me! I am guessing if you are doing 42:35 in training you will see a 38:00 or better time in your race. A bit of advice start closer to the starting line, don't line up all the way in the back just because you think you are the slow one. There are lots of kids and strollers in many 5ks and its a ***** trying to get around them once you get fired up. You end up running a 5.1k just zig zagging.
