The Dreaded "How are you losing the weight" question at work

I got it yesterday. Just smiled and gave a half nod. I've shared with a few folks at work (some before surgery, some after, some voluntarily, some if they ask). But I don't really want to share with this person - nothing wrong with her but she wants to know "my secret". I feel like if I tell this one person the whole office will soon know. Sigh.....

I'm down a little over 50 pounds so yes, it shows. A lot. Just venting, still not sure how I will handle it.

I understand how that goes. I want to tell more of my family, but if I tell my mom everyone will know. :(

My answer: "a lot of hard work: working with my doctor, my trainer, and on what I am eating."

Then I change the subject.

I was going to add that the "hard work" bit seems to scare them off. Their reaction seems to be, "damn, no secret magic pill or anything. Best move on."

I work in a Clinic.... I was hired a month before my surgery date so at the interview I had to tell the Dr. I want the job really bad but I had something scheduled and paid for coming up the next month....he said no problem!!!!

Anyway..long story short, my work family knows, however, our clinic only has 10 employees total....and I'm blessed because EVERY single one of them, are SO supportive of me and completely understanding about the surgery itself.

In my REAL life, maybe 5 people know tops. The bare minimum.  I have very opinionated asshole ppl in my real life sometimes that just think its the lowest thing a person could do and such a cop out yadda yadda (we have all heard it...)

At work we get drug reps/hospice reps etc that come in on a regular basis. One of them I know in my "real" life.

The comments have started....(omg wow look at you how much have you lost what are you doing omg omg etc) and the real life one was really going on and on...

I just tell them the TRUTH....EXCEPT.......the surgery part I omit!

The truth:  I cut out all white junk carbs, I cut out any and all sugar,  I reach for 90grams of protein a day, any vegetables I eat are green, and I joggerwalk ALMOST every night.   kiss easy as pie...no lies!
