Medical leave, treats in the house, and too much time

Ugh.  I am out on medical leave from PS, which I am super grateful for.  First week of recovery not too much of an issue eating right mostly because I was heavy into recovery.  This week, I am feeling better and really am fighting eating junk food.  We don't have any junk food in the house- thank God, because I would be eating it all day.  The combination of boredom and a little stressed from missing work is really challenging for me.  So the point of the post- put yourself in the best situation you can.  I know my will power is terrible right now, so it is critical I keep crap out of the house.  I have three more LOOOONG weeks of this, so I am going to need my family to help a bit to by not giving into my pathetic pleas for junk food.  So for now I am taking a ride on the struggle bus, and if you are too let's all try to get off at the next stop.  Hang in there during holiday gluttony season!

I'm struggling a bit, too.  Between the holidays, traveling, and diet burnout, I've been having a hard time sticking really well to plan.  Thank god for the sleeve, though, because I don't seem to be able to do too much damage to myself because of it.  I'm getting back to my therapist January 3rd!

Ah, I can kind of relate. I had surgery on my foot and leg a week and a half ago. I know it isn't as miserable as PS must be, and I didn't get to take any time off work except for day of surgery. For the first few days I actually had no appetite, maybe from the pain meds/anesthesia. But now the real hunger and the head hunger is kicking in. Very glad there is no junk food in the house. I almost killed my boyfriend for bringing home chips the other day (one of my worst trigger foods). In another week and a half I get the other leg/foot done. It's going to be a long holiday season recovering from this.

How is the foot doing?  I had foot surgery about this time last year, and sadly it took a loooong time to heal.  I hope it goes faster for you.  Maybe you can ask the boyfriend to hide the chips if he must have them?  Do you have a plan to help you through the healing process?

What kind of surgery did you have on your foot? I had endoscopic plantar fasciotomy, along with gastrocnemius (calf muscle) recession. The leg procedure is worse than the foot one.

The foot/leg is so-so. I really don't know how I will be ready for another surgery in a week and a half. But I have to get it in before the end of the year due to insurance reasons or I simply won't be able to do the other leg.

Not sure what you mean by plan exactly, but as far as eating plan I have been cooking mass quantities of meat and putting myself on autopilot as far as eating goes. Like I made a turkey the night before surgery and ate that for a week. I made a bunch of chicken breast and fish yesterday. A protein shake every morning. I am trying for 90 grams of protein a day to help with healing, taking all my vitamins and a few healing herbs. Falling a little short on fluid intake as I hate to be running to the bathroom constantly though.

And yes, I have requested that the boyfriend not bring chips home again :) Eating some of those really increased the food cravings for me. I shouldn't have eaten any, but I did.

By plan I simply meant a plan to deal with the recovery period and the challenges associated with it :)  I have skin cancer, and they had to remove a pretty good chunk of my right instep last year.  Nasty little surprise that was!

Oh man, I've read you mention the skin cancer - didn't know it was on your foot. How awful :(

Yep, friggin' covered with it.  I stopped counting after a 100 or so spots.  I have had excisions on the back, face, chest, arms, thighs, lower legs, feet. shoulders, neck...  Only part that has been Ok is the hair and where a bikini bottom would cover.  But it is managed now.  I have yet to pass a skin check, but I hope the one coming up in January will be the first :)

Wow, that is a crazy amount of excisions. Best wishes for a passing skin check next month! I hope you update us on how it goes.
