On plan treats (cheesecake!) to help fight the holiday barrage

Yep, been struggling here.  I am actually pretty proud of myself that I have lasted the week.  But, it is getting harder so it is time to pull out some favorite "treat" recipes that are loaded with protein and on plan.

Cheesecake lover?  Try 1 tub Fage fat free plain greek yogurt mixed with 1 package of sugar free jello instant cheesecake pudding.  For extra awesome, crumble Kays Naturals Protein Cookies (Cinnamon) into a type of graham cracker crust and line cute little muffin tins with it, with the filling on top.  I use cute little silicon muffin pans that are cute enough to just eat the dessert right out of it.  Thi**** my 1 gram of protein for every 10 calories rule or pretty close to it- it has been a while since I looked at the stats.  Guilt free dessert, oh yea!

Kays Naturals Protein cookies- yep, crunchy, tasty, and chock full of protein.  Word of warning though- you can buy them either by a larger box size or bagged individually in a box- go with the pre-portioned version.  Uh, yea- pretty possible to down an entire box in a couple hours otherwise.

Protein cake- sometimes I positively crave something warm and chocolate.  Like tonight.  If you go to Eggface's blog she has many recipes for protein cake.  A few simple ingredients that you likely have in your house, and no joke in 5 minutes you have your cake.  I always substitute apple sauce for the oil in her recipes to lighten it up.  This does run a little higher in calories so be sure to run your stats before eating it.  If you google "protein cake eggface" it will take you to the right spot for recipes.  I am a fan of the black forest one.

Something the whole family likes without it seeming like it is a diet thing- just a simple one.  Take a martini glass, a little sugar free pudding or do the mousse thing (pudding mixed with whipped cream), little whip cream on top, sprinkle sparsely crushed toffee- a little goes a very long way. If you like it dirty, you could put a bit of crushed oreo type cookie- again a little goes a long way.  You can pop this out for about 100 calories.  It doesn't hit my protein ratio, but the calories are low enough to work in for a nice option that beats eating high calorie desserts.  It is filling too so I usually would not finish one after a meal.

So these were my favorites during the weight loss phase.  Do you have anything you can share?

Thanks!  I could so use this lately.  I'm off Friday, maybe I'll pick up the ingredients so I can make something for Christmas Eve or Day.

How are you feeling?  Hope things are doing better for you.

Feeling good.  Honestly, the recovery from plastics was not nearly as bad as I imagined it would be prior to surgery. It really helped that the hosptial experience was excellent (surprisingly- that is a first for me, as normally I HATE being in the hospital).   Now I just need to focus on managing all this time, no ability to exericise, and head hunger.  :)

Apologies if you posted this info elsewhere and I missed it, but how long were you in the hospital for your plastics?

Went in for a 6 am surgery, doc ran late a couple hours.  By the next morning I was ready to go, but the doc was in surgery all day.  Finally discharged at around 7 pm.  I did have the option of staying another day fi I wanted.  Overall, recovery has been good.  More difficult than the vsg recovery- but very, very tolerable.   And did I mention my stomach is FLAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, that was a faster turnaround than I was expecting.  Glad that you're recovery has been going so well.

YAY flat stomach!!!

This is perfect timing, Ida. Thanks!
I like plain Greek yogurt mixed with made up sf pudding - lemon is my favourite, topped with a sprinkle of crushed graham cracker. Vanilla, topped with a teaspoonful of toasted coconut or slivered almonds makes a nice treat, too.
I'm off to see if Eggface has a gingerbread version of protein cake. Chocolate is good, but gingerbread = Christmas to me.

She totally does- just saw it earlier tonight :)  Torani makes a pumpkin spice sugar free syrup too that is out for the holidays.

Oh yum.
Have you tried sf pumpkin custard? I just follow the recipe on the can of pumpkin, with Splenda instead of sugar. It doesn't fit the 10/1 rule, but it's filling, delicious, nutritious and a much better choice than the shortbread in my freezer. I serve it with a dollop of sweetened Greek yogurt on top as my lunch some days.

Just an idea. Have you tried cooking her cakes in your cupcake maker instead of the microwave? I love my Babycakes cupcake maker - I think I'll try one of her cakes in it tonight.

I have an embarrassment of sf syrup flavours. If I can get a protein cake to work well in my Babycakes my hubby is going to be one happy camper. He gets flax/almond muffins as part of his packed lunch every day and would love being my "canary" as I try all of the flavours.

Oh... don't have a cupcake maker, but I do have the mini pie maker and pretty sure that would work.  I bet that would make them better than the microwave and almost as fast.  Great idea!
