I had the VSG surgery on December 9, 2013. I was given liquid pain medication when I went home, but I only took it for the first 4-5 days. I have had very little pain in general, but yes, I do have some pain/discomfort at the incision where my stomach was removed. I would say on a scale of 1-10 the highest it ever got was 5-6. It's not a sharp pain, more of an achy pain. Like a pulled muscle. Now at 16 days out I have pain only once in a while. If I eat too much or if I am constipated it will hurt, but that's only happened once.
I had my VSG on Dec 3. The first four days I had discomfort like I had done a million situps. By the fifth day I was good. I did find that walking helped with the gas discomfort in my back. Hot showers and heating pad was also helpful. I expected more discomfort and was happy that it was not bad at all.
You guys rock! Thanks for all the information.
