Boredom is getting the better of me

Still recovering from abdominoplasty and I really struggling with boredom... which typically leads to overeating.  I have a mountain of school work to do that I just can't seem to get motivated for.  The only thing I desperately want to do is exercise, which is the one thing I can't right now.  Ugh!  Praying the drains come out on Saturday so I can at least start walking a bit.  Good news- I have not gained.  Throughout the whole process I have has several surgeries to recover from and even during my weight loss phase my goal was simply to not gain during recovery.

Boredom is a major trigger for me too.  Good for you for staying on track, despite this.  I remember you posting a great link/list to strategies for just such cir****tances.  Personally, I use distracting behaviours in situation where I'm bored.  Sometimes, I start a small crafting project, something that I can finish in a few hours, like knitting a scarf.  Then I have something pretty to continue to distract me as I try it on with different outfits ;)

I agree with you entirely, but I am not crafty at all and pretty much despise anything like that.  Everything I like to do involves movement in some form or another, and the darn groin tubes that are sewn in are just too sore to move much.  The TT is preventing any type of lifting so I even dumbells while seated is a no no.  But almost there...

do you have netflix or amazon prime or anything, or can use someone's account? i watch documentaries about food, health, wellness, etc. like Food Matters, Hungry for Change, Forks Over Knives, and one or two of those reality shows or tv series about obesity, losing weight, etc. Just more mind fodder but at least it's something relevant to my life and sometimes inspirational and sometimes educational.

It works if you work it; it sorta works if you sorta work it; and it doesn't work if you don't work it.

Yep, have Netflix and Hulu... that sustained me for a while.  I am that weird person who never, ever watches t.v.  Got going on the series Breaking Bad and watched all 5 seasons during this recovery, but couldn't find anything else that held my attention.  I am a reader, but wanted to detox from my ADHD meds over this month so reading doesn't hold me over either at the moment.  But, I am almost there... hopefully I get the drains out Saturday and can move better.
