One Dress, Twenty Years...Finally at Goal (PICTURE)
I bought this dress in 1993. I had been on the Atkins diet for a little over a year and I had lost 76 lbs - I remember how great it felt and I just wanted to lose 10 more pounds. I was out shopping with my mom and grandmom - my grandmom thought it would be a great "inspiration" to buy this dress and lose the last few pounds to fit in it. Well, to make a long story short, I never made it. This dress finally found it's home in the back of my closet - traveling with me from state to state and country to country. I would occasionally pull it out and hang in front of my closet as a bit of inspiration to "get back on track" - but, it never seemed to work. I can not tell you how many times my hubby "suggested" that I put it the donation pile. I never did - I still held on to hope that "one day" I would be able to wear it. In fact, when my dr suggested that I pick a "goal" piece of clothing, rather than a weight, I immediately thought of this dress - a very slim cut size 9 Bill Blass that I was never able to zip even at my lowest weight. Well, "one day" was finally yesterday. My hubby and I went to a holiday banquet (our parish always waits until after the festivities on the 3rd week of January to throw one last bash) - I felt like Cinderella the entire night. Most folks knew that I have been losing weight, but everyone could see exactly how far I have come. It was the perfect segue into advertising my new pilates business too. I have been hesitant to post a "goal" message - I don't know, I am afraid of jinxing my success; but, I had to share this one.
