Off script: responding to crisis
I live in Atlanta, and if you haven't heard/had a chance to laugh at us, the city has been completely crippled by 2" of snow. There are plenty of stories to tell, like my daughter's high school dismissing at 1:30 yesterday without buses and telling the kids to walk home, but perhaps I'll put that post in Rants & Raves.
I got home at 1:30 pm this afternoon. I left for work at 7:00 am yesterday. I drove 2.5 miles in 2.5 hours yesterday and finally went to a friend's house nearby where I spent the night. I was lucky, not having to spend the night in my jeep. This morning, I helped 3 other people get home as well.
When I left work yesterday, I had some water (less than 20 oz), a yogurt, a quest bar, and a can of chicken. Not enough to get me home at that pace, but I had food and water.
I ended up eating what was offered (hot chocolate, roast pork, etc.) and although I went a little over my calorie goals and a lot over my carb goals, I'm not going to beat myself up over it. Sometimes having strange things happen like that mean you have to bend and flex. Today, though, I'm back on my plan and will seek to even things out for the weekly view.

Thanks! I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio so I am used to snow and we off-road in the jeeps so bad terrain doesn't scare me, but other drivers do...

Oh, girl! I'm up in Chattanooga and I FEEL YOU!! Chatt is a much smaller city, but we've been completely incapacitated, too! It's absurd. My eating was completely out of whack yesterday as well. Snowmageddon 2014 has been a PAIN.

I am, thanks for asking! My family has been ok, other than my poor brother-in-law having to abandon his car about a mile from his house! He was able to get it today though, so it worked out in the end!

Thanks so much. It's so nice to be home. I had a good time once I got home. Gave my 15 year old a driving lesson in the snow. At one point, after pulling out of a skid, she smiled at me and said, "hehe...this is fun." A girl after my own heart. :)

Thanks. I hated feeling out of bounds. I have had days where I think, oh, I blew it, but I really didn't once I plugged in the numbers, but this was different as I exceeded calories and carbs (but that hot chocolate was so very delicious). I did have the opportunity to try parsnips, though, which accompanied my friend's delicious pork roast. I loved them.
Our weather began as snow which then turned to ice as cars drove. The sun was out today which melted some of it but it didn't get above freezing and now that it's getting dark it's going to freeze hard.
