Off script: responding to crisis
Glad you are home safe. I was wondering if you may have gotten caught up in that mess. That is great that you were able to get right back on your plan today. I was supposed to have my 2 week check up with Dr Macik yesterday but our windshield was iced over after just 10 miles of being on 85 so we turned around. I rescheduled for tomorrow at 11:00 but I am thinking it still may be a little chaotic on the interstate.
Where are you coming from? I was talking to a colleague today who lives off of Peachtree and she said roads there were still iced over. I'm not optimistic that 11am is going to work. Perhaps later in the afternoon? Good luck! I am glad you are home safe.

I am in Chicago and this winter has been treacherous. We have three instances of 40 below lasting several days. At that temperature, the plows can't get the snow to melt. The irony here is that this same day last year it was 63 degrees. Gotta love living in the Midwest! We are paying for any of the mild winters we have had. Good luck to you guys!
I live in the metro Atlanta area too and I have to say, it wasn't the powdery dry snow that got us. It was the fact that it immediately turned to ice. I almost went in to work yesterday and I am soooo glad i changed my mind. It was in the teens when i got up, so I decided to stay in my nice warm jammies in my nice warm house. Fortunately, I can telecommute when I want to. It was a mess out there.A school bus got stuck in front of my house, spinning it's wheels trying to get up the hill. I really feel badly for anyone caught out there in the traffic.
Today was no better. My street is a nearly solid sheet of ice people have been slipping and sliding on it all day. My DH has cabin fever so he called the local Mexican restaurant to see if they were open. They said they'd be open at 5pm. He was all set to go, too. I wasn't feeling too good after i ate some funky tasting deli meat, so i begged off. Thankfully, he came to his senses before 5!
Unfortunately, I did not lay in a lot of food for me prior to the storm. I didn't realize the deli meat was going south. I'm not up to eating eggs or meat yet. Somebody ate my special yogurt. I'm living off eggbeaters, cheese and peanut butter. DH found a can of tamales in the cabinet and after thinking about if for about a minute, I decided to eat a small one with some refried beans. Ahhhh....best dinner I've had all week. I wouldn't eat tamales generally, but I was just about desperate for something that ISN'T eggs, cheese, and funky ham.
The interstates near my house are still terrible and people can't negotiate the ramps. Everything in the Atlanta area is either uphill or downhill, and the surface streets are often very shady. It's going to take at least another day to get the ice melted and the streets dried.
The one bright spot in all this is, it's gonna be in the 60s on Saturday.
Gotta love living in the South!
No laughing at you guys from out here in the DFW area...we get crippled by that stuff too.
Remember the Super Bowl a couple of years ago?
Yeah, I am pretty sure we'll NEVER get asked to host again after that debacle.
Glad you are safe!
