calccium that won't make me broke or puke
So I've tried the Caramel Bariatric advantage chews, and I loved them. They are neaarly $40 / month. I also tried their chocolate "meltaways" and they are neither chocolate nor do they melt. I'd rather eat pool cue chalk.
Any suggestions for alternatives?

No alternatives that I can suggest. However, I justify the cost in what I'm saving on food these days. We used to eat out at least 5 nights a week and I didn't flinch at the cost. Now that I've committed to taking better care of my health, I view the cost of the vitamins as part of the operating costs for my new stomach.
What I really hate are the Bariatric Advantage Chewable Multivitamins in Berry Flavor. I feel like I'm eating chalk straight from the classroom. Gross.

From what I'm reading, one scoop of Upcal D is only 500mg of calcium citrate. My NUT says that I should be taking 1500mg of Calcium Citrate per day.
Am I looking at the wrong product?

You're right. It's 2500mg or 50% of the daily with one scoop but only 500mg is actually absorbed. I also take Bari Life powdered multivitamins and that has made up the difference to 1500mg daily.
Still..it will take a long time to go through a canister so is a viable cheap alternative that doesn't gag you.
Thanks for pointing that out ![]()
Wellesse Liquid Calcium is $12-13 for a one month supply:

The taste is kind of a mild, creamy, orange taste. I liked it fine but I know others who didn't. That sort of thing is hard to predict, it's so individual.
Well, I'm little Miss Researcher here today.
The Wellesse Liquid Calcium is comprised of only 70% Calcium Citrate.
"Wellesse liquid Calcium, in just one ounce a day, provides added Vitamin D3, Magnesium, and Boron to optimize absorption and is formulated with 70% Calcium Citrate (most bio-available/absorbable form), and 30% Tri Calcium Phosphate"
I don't know if that's a problem, but something you should be aware of.

Yeah, I consider it kind of an emergency measure that I did for four weeks after surgery, when something was better than nothing. These days I am careful to get at least 100% of my calcium from food and I supplement with Citracal Petites every day, just in case. Honestly I don't stress too much about calcium though -- there is almost no evidence that calcium supplements prevent broken bones. What really works to do that is exercise and sunlight!
I use Celebrate Calcium Plus 500 chewable, Orange Burst flavor. Has extra D, K, magnesium, zinc and copper. Very tasty. If you get a 90 day supply, it's 14 dollars a month, at 3 x 500 per day. If you order 100 dollars at a time, shipping is free. They also have the caramel and chocolate chews, but as you pointed out they are very pricey to take all the time.
