And an extra $1500 for my tummy tuck

I am just posting this for folks who may be considering getting a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty).  My insurance covered the pannilectomy (spelling is off), and I had to pay extra for a vertical cut, muscle tightening, a little lipo... and I am not sure if the reworking of the belly button would have been covered due to having a hernia repair very near there.  Anyway, originally my doc charged me an extra $2,000 for the work and really dodged the question of how much extra it would be for the anesthestitist and hospital stay and instead simply saying costs are prorated since it would be part covered from insurance.  It appears the bills are in... anesthistist (please forgive the horrible spelling!) appears to be fully covered, and an extra $1,500 on the hospital stay.  Normally I would be pretty ticked about that, but they did such a good job that $3,500 was totally worth it.  Anyway, if you were looking for some cost comparisons there you go.  The doc I used was Vincent DiNick out of Ypsilanti, Mi and if you have BCBS he is VERY good at getting insurance to cover the pannis part.  And he did a supurb job on my TT- still can't believe it is really me.

That is great!  Did you have skin infections/irritation to cause the insurance to agree to the panni?  I know it is in my future, because it's already an issue (babies, man.)

I had one prescription for rashes on record- otherwise, there are requirements of losing at least 100 pounds for at least 6 months and the panni hanging down to the pubic bone.

This would make it worth the while changing to BCBS?  Which one do you have?  Than I would have to check with my policy to see if it covers the pannilectomy.  I carried most of my wieght in my thighs and the saging is causing problems walking but they don't care or cover it.

I am a teacher, so it is Messa ABC plan (messa.org for more info on that if it helps).   No idea on the thigh issues.  I carried very little in the thigh area relatively speaking so some sag, but nothing terrible.  The stomach was a hot mess though, as that is where I carried all my weight.

Thanks!  My Dad was a teacher so I know his insurance was much better than mine.
