Rosie O'Donnell announced she had vertical gastric sleeve surgery while addressing a Go Red luncheon, sponsored by the American Heart Association, in Detroit on Friday. Since having the procedure in July 2013, the comedian has lost 40 lbs., going from 230 lbs. to 190 lbs. The surgical weight-loss procedure – in which a doctor normally removes about 80 percent of the patient's stomach and creates a small sleeve-shaped stomach the size of a banana – was a necessity for 5' 7" O'Donnell. "I did it to save my life," says O'Donnell, 51, who suffered a life threatening heart attack in 2012.

When I read the article previously, I thought the same thing.... 40 pounds in 7 months?!?! Doesn't sound like she is being very compliant with a VSG food plan. Either that or her goal was just she wanted to get below 200 (which she has accomplished) and now she feels she is done and maintaining.

Good, she is trying to live longer and is not ashame to come clean, not like other celeberties who don't say the truth they just want to make money by lying how they lost weight and help promote big name weight lose programs. She looks good she'll lose as much as she want. We are all different she is going to make a success out of this VS.
That weight loss is not all that atypical (unfortunately). Most doctors are recommending diets that just don't get people anywhere near goal. I wish her well and I hope she doesn't experience regain. This is not snark, I really hope it works for her. I would have been devastated with similar results.
