Tightening up and loss of exericise- when life happens
Hello,
This is just an observation about how when life happens, it can impact the weight journey. I had abdominoplasty December 9th (went great), but still cannot exercise. I tried 20 minutes on the treadmill a few days ago, and I am still super sore. My core just isn't having anything to do with rotation or long strides for sure. Anyway, exerrcise has been an important part of the journey for me, and my weight has crept up about 5 pounds. Time to do something about it, and this time it will be a bit more challenging due to not being able to exercise. The way I see it, I have a choice. Jump knee deep into this and get the 5 pounds off, or play ostrich and begin a slow and steady decline. I am not into the ostrich approach. If something in your life is triggering some gain, do something. Life will always happen, stress can be around the next corner, and you will need to have a plan in place prior to these life events occurring to help ensure you stay the path. For me, back to shakes I go- at least 3 per day until the weight is off. Leafy veggies and protein will comprise most of the rest of the diet, with just enough carb to keep the blood sugar levels humming along at the right level.
Stay the path- peace.

Did great today right up until I ate the two homemade oatmeal cranberry cookies. Had a talk with the hubby about helping me out by not filling the hosue with stuff like that given my complete lack of willpower at the moment. Cookies are almost gone and I have a bunch of teengage girls in the house, so not much longer for sure. Only did 1 shake though today- I have to get up to 3. But, overall a step in the right direction today and I will keep tightening up until I get it. It is kind of normal for me to have to rev up over a couple days to get it going again.

I remember how sore my friend was after she had her stomach done. I feel for you.
Talk to your doctor...at two months out you should be able to exercise I would think. You might try something new like yoga to help those muscles stretch a bit so they aren't quite so tight. Having her stomach muscles tightened with her surgery, she said, was the worst pain she'd ever experienced. I would imagine it like any muscle injury...they need to be rehabilitated properly for maximin gain.
I did. I worked the treadmill the day before my appointment to see how I would fair. He said it looked like I would be one who could not do any heavy exercising (weightlifting, elliptical, etc.) for perhaps up to 6 months and to just be patient. That just isn't the kind of patience I have, but I do not want to prolong this any extra either.
