Gallbladders are sensitive little things.  And they can get real messed up when we're losing lots of weight because all that excess fat leaving our bodies gets processed through the liver and gallbladder.   The first time I lost 60 lbs. on my own I developed gallbladder issues and had to have it removed.   Glad it's gone!

{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}  and a woohoo!

Get a 2nd opinion or ask for further tests before agreeing to having your GB removed if they claim you need it after the u/s. Sometimes it's not actually the GB and some docs are "trigger happy" to remove it for nearly any reason.

I dealt with this. They wanted to remove mine and then I had an actual gallbladder function test. Which was not pleasant and took over an hour in xray. But is showed my GB was actually functioning just fine. If I hadn't voiced my concerns they would have just removed it (for no good reason) JUST because it "happens alot" with WLS patients.

Good luck with the gall bladder.  My mother-in-law had hers taken out last month, and it was an easy procedure.  She is amazed that she can eat now without having discomfort.  I hope all goes well for you.

Hi, After having my second baby I had my tubes tied. One week of being home I woke up in the night and had trouble breathing I waited until the sun started to come up and had my husband bring me to the E.R. . I was having a gallbladder attack. By the time they came to check on my almost all the pain was gone but the test showed them what was wrong. I ended up having my gallbladder out two weeks after giving birth and having my tubes tied. That was a lot of surgery in two weeks. They said it was common to have this problem after having babies. That was 29 yrs. ago. So I have a massive scar on my stomach. I know how you feel when it comes to the gallbladder. After I felt like I needed to go to the bathroom all the time #1 not #2. I had it checked by a urologist and it was normal to feel that way. If you have to have it out things have changed so much. I know it is just a very small scar and the recovery is much quicker. I wish you luck. And congrats. on your weight loss.

I had my gallbladder out 2.5 years ago. Recovering from surgery was super easy. I felt like my abs had been over worked. A few weeks out I'd get a bit of soreness if I used my core muscles too much, but a bit of rest took that feeling away. The only "complication" I had was when I ate fettuccine alfredo a week after surgery. I had what felt like an episode of the dumping episode that RNY'ers can get.
