No Shedding?
Before I got Vsg 2 months ago I researched the hell out of it. But to get more to the point I watched numerous videos of women who bravely discussed their new woes with hair shedding and loss. Now I've always had super thick hair and before the surgery I also had a life long struggle with dandruff and shedding. for the dandruff I tried the selsum, head and shoulders, tar, clear and home remedies like vinegar and the shedding I didn't pay to much attention to because I just always had. But when I saw the video posts of women with bald spots I worried what if thats my hair soon? Then I started looking at the research online of what different people were using to stop hair loss and surprisingly I came across a few posts and videos on Nizoral which luckily they had where I worked but never noticed (I work in a pharmacy.) Its supposed to be for dandruff and I've used it for two weeks and I do see a much clearer scalp but it also helps to increase hair growth. Its has an anti-fungal as the main ingredient its about $17-$20 depending on where you get it from which is probably why I never tried it $$$. But I've also noticed I stopped serious shedding as well after using the product. I've also been using scalpicin after I wash and dry my hair stopped using conditioner also. I'm curious to know what others have done or tried that gave them similar results; leave a line or two we are here to help each other.

I had really thick hair before surgery and have suffered from dry scalp most of my life. It gets worse in winter and disappears in the summer. My understanding is that the surgery kicks in a reaction from your body and the hair that is in a certain growth stage is the stuff that falls out. I don't have bald spots just an overall thinning. But that could be because I started with so much. I'm still losing hair but I believe it is slowing down if my drain is any indicator. I'm still waiting for the fuzzy regrowth that looks like a chia pet...can't wait for that! lol

I had complications that kept me from eating for two months. It kicked in about 5 weeks out. Hasn't stopped but has slowed a bit as I'm improving and getting my foods in. I'm just starting my 5th month. I'm hoping it will stop soonish as it got such an early start.
OMG thats horrible, but not the extreme end of the spectrum. I'm sorry you had complications that lasted two months were you on liquids the whole time? Is that a nosy question? I dunno, but I do like hearing about other peoples experiences its how I started using and doing half the stuff I have and do now. Its also nice to know what to expect, or even if someone else has had a similar problem as me so I appreciate your post. I'm glad the hair shedding has slowed down in your case though. Let me know how it all progresses, it would be interesting to see how long that phase typically lasts.

If you look at my signature there is a link to my post about my complications. But I was mostly on IV fluids but the last week they put a PICC line in my arm and fed me that way. It wasn't ideal but I count myself lucky that it wasn't more serious. Silver lining is my tummy had lots of time to heal with no stress put on it and I'm way behind in the game so my tummy acts more like a 2-3 month old then it does a five month old. I think this will help me as I get closer to goal...or that's what I tell myself lol
The serious hair loss kicks in around month four. There's nothing you can do to stop the shedding. You can take all the vitamins, supplements and hair products you like, but they'll only impact new hair growth.

I've also noticed people start treating the issue when they notice the loss I'm glad you posted saying the loss kicks in around month 4 that gives me time to do an experiment. I'll try different hair skin nail supplements in addition to the nizoral because that did stop my dandruff problem and no matter what I wanna keep that in check regardless...lol and I'll post picks of my hair/ scalp once a week. You could be totally right and maybe I'll be wasting time and money but I'll try the prevention approach as I'm only two months in it could work but only time will tell :)
Thanks for posting, I think I will try that for my scalp issues. Another dandruff "remedy" I saw on a different message board was to wash hair with Tone soap. It might work better for someone with very short hair...it's hard to get it down to the scalp. Since I needed bars of soap, it was worth trying. I decided to also try Tone body wash, since I thought it might get to the scalp easier...and it does. The constant "itchy" feeling is gone and I do think the flakes are less, but are still there. It was only $3, and even if it only gets rid of the itchiness, it's worth it to me!
When I was about 4 months out, I went thru the hair loss. It wasn't much for me. No one could really see a difference, but I noticed it was a little more work to style it for some reason.
Hmm I haven't heard of using tone before but my hair is just below my belly button I usually throw it back into a bun and its frizzy and wavy ughhh not the most amazing mane. But I do like how tone smells so thats something to consider. I had tried this one argan oil product too it made my hair so soft and had a kind of citrus smell to it but I finished the bottle a while ago and cant remember which brand it was that I used. Omg i loved it! :( o well I guess I just have to wait another 2 months and see if I really accomplished something hair/ scalp wise. :) how do you style your hair?
