How bad does it get?

I am hoping for a sleeve revision but am wary of the stories about it being really bad for people with Reflux.  Isn't there a way around it?  I already take Pepcid AC daily.  Would that take care of it or is it worse than that even?

what are you getting revised from , If from a crap band the sleeve might help your reflux a lot

my surgeon says 30% of patients have a hernia I had one that was repaired during sleeve surgery and I have had reflux a few times in 9 months

there are better anti acid drugs than pepcid the doctor can prescribe  ppi or h2 blockers

The first month when I still had significant swelling there wasn't much that wouldn't give me reflux, but it's evened out. I haven't had it since.

I am one who developed reflux post op. It took me a couple is months of trial-and-error to find the best PPI, but once I did, it became very manageable. I'll take it over all of the other problems I had pre op. Definitely worth it for me.

I think the size of the Sleeve is critical. I had the complete DS, so my surgeon left me with a pretty generous Sleeve. It completely cured my reflux, which was terrible.

Back when I was researching, you just never saw a DS complain about developing reflux, and there just weren't any Sleevers. Then Sleevers started having significant regain, so they started making Sleeves smaller and smaller---and suddenly people were talking about reflux. For some people, it was so bad they got revised to an RNY to treat it.

The moral of my story is: don't let them give you a tiny little Sleeve.

Thank you to everyone for your responses!!

That makes me feel much better.  I believe my reflux is caused both by my weight and some of the meds I take.  it is nice to know I don't have to discount the sleeve for that.  And DS is not out of the question for me, just have to wait until after the band is removed.

I had reflux before surgery and I have it post-surgery. I was on omeprazole pre-op, but it never really helped all that much. I've been on protonix since surgery and I can tell a HUGE difference. I can eat pretty much everything within reason. I don't eat salsa or spicy foods and I limit tomatoes and citrus to very occasional treats.

I had terrible reflux prior to surgery.  During surgery the doc found a hiatel hernia and fixed it and I have not had any acid issues since.  Thank goodness.  The sleever surgery was worth it just to get a handle on the acid issues!
