Comparing sleeve surgery to an appendectomy or c-section
Good afternoon to you!
I've had two c-sections and an appendectomy. In fact I had the appendectomy when i was 32 weeks pregnant with my first child. I had the sleeve done in March 2014. I was in quite a good amount of pain when i came out of the sleeve surgery, and the gas pain was a *****! However, like previous posters have mentioned, the sleeve is just a series of tiny incisions, which to me, made it much much easier to do things like, go up a flight of stairs. Yeah the initial post-surgery pain sucked, but i felt pretty darn good less than 24 hours later. C-sections were easier immediately after, but took me longer to recover from. The appendectomy was hell...Because I was preggers, they could not do it via a scope, and so I got a big ol' incision scar. I was completely wiped out after that.
Sleeved 3/4/14 I'm not fat, I'm big-boned.
Very very very very very very very very very very very very big-boned.
I had a C/S a few years ago and my sleeve almost 2 months ago. I honestly thought the pain/gas pain from the VSG was worse than my C/S but it was a much quicker recovery. The 1st 3 days of surgery were somewhat rough for me- it hurt to move, stand, walk. To be fair, I really didn't utilize the heavy pain meds (Dilaudid, Morphine, etc) and opted for IV motrin. The narcotic pain meds made me nauseous and out of it. After the 3rd day or so, my pain was pretty tolerable and quickly gone completely. I remember the walk out of the hospital with my C/S(day 4) and my VSG(day 2) and it was definitely worse with my sleeve. At the 1 week mark, I was feeling really good with my sleeve while it took a few weeks to feel really good after my C/S.
