Hello, I wasn't sure if i wanted to post something, im just so frustrated with the process, i have done everything, im just battling with the nutritionist, lets say i don't have the best one, not sure yet, i feel she dont give me the comfort to tell her my worries, her clearance is the only thing i need to complete and summit. Im so frustrated i never though I would feel like this, Im usually the strong one, dont want to see my self failing and i feel she is not giving me the chance to show her how bad i want this. Mood: hopeless

Ok, take a deep breath!  The bright spot is you seem to only have one more hurdle- the NUT (nutritionist).  It is perfectly normal to feel worried, afraid that the surgery won't work for you, that you will have it done and still not be able to control eating crap choices, etc.  I was in a very dark place by the time I decided to have the surgery and felt certain prior to the surgery date that I would never make it to goal.  I was only hoping to lose enough to move around better.  It is hard to wrap your head around the difference the surgery makes, and how powerful the tool is.  So hang in there!  Go to the NUT and try to focus on "hearing" the recommendations for proper nutriotion, food choices, and perhaps a schedule of when it would be best for you to eat.  For the worry part, see if your surgeon has some type of support group or find one locally- it an make a world of difference.  If you can't find something local- post here.  We have a lot of vets and also people at every phase either pre op, newly sleeved, a few months out... you name it.  Chances are when you post you will find several who can chime in to help no matter what the issue is.

Been reading at this board for a long time. Finally joined a while back this year. I am scheduled for surgery on August 5 and reading people's questions and experiences here has helped me a lot so far.

I am scheduled for the end of July and really appreciate being able to read about everyone else's journey. Best of luck to you and I look forward to hearing how you are,

Thanks!  I'm new here.  I am currently jumping through insurance hoops.  I have my last appointment scheduled for September 2nd before all of my paperwork can be sent off to insurance for approval.  I hope to be having surgery in late September or early October.  Reading all these posts from people that are where I want to be is very encouraging and inspiring!

The only question I have for right now is: Can someone point me to a page/link that shows me all the abbreviations used.  Some I can figure out, but others I have no clue what they mean.

Thanks- Amy

Here are some of the more common ones:

NUT- nutritionist

IMHO- In my humble opinion

NSV- non-scale victory, like not needing the seatbelt extender when you fly on a plane or dropping 2 sizes in clothing

Drawing a blank on the other common ones, so please ask and I can help if I see it!

Happyteacher-Thanks!   NSV is the one that I had no clue what it meant!  I figured the NUT one out pretty fast, I kept reading about people talking about visits with nuts and quickly understood what it meant.  LOL.

Thanks for the welcome! :)

I joined OH in 2006 with intention of being banded but backed out. With little success of keeping weight off on my own these last 8 years I was faced with the reality that surgery is probably my best option for success. I made up my mind, changed PCPs so I could be referred to a better weight loss program and started reading here about 6 weeks ago. Just started the process with the weight and wellness center and looking at surgery in January/February (Insurance requires 6 months counseling by phone along with other things)

Good luck to all us newbies and thanks VSG vets for sharing with us!
