Hi everyone I am 7 days post-op and I was taken off my diabetes medication as soon as I left the hospital. Lately I have been having blood sugar readings in between 60 and 74 I am on full liquids and I don't know what to do about these low readings any advice I would appreciate it.

60-74 is good, not low. I think you are fine. Mine regularly sits right around 70. Being on liquids your blood sugar would be lower, you are on a high protein, low carb diet. I think you are right where you should be. Still check with your doctor.

Well mine dropped into the 60s after surgery. My surgeon had me to drink gatorade g2 all the time until it came up. Just keep an eye on your levels.

60 is low and some consider under 70 low.  Check with your doc.  How long are you going in between shakes/liquids? I found I needed to eat about 2.5 hours apart.  The first two months I was having to get up in the middle of the night for a glass of milk also,  but once I started eating carbs and eating right before bed that stopped.

For a Type II diabetic that is controlling glucose with diet and exercise, 60 is getting into kind of scary territory...because it's just a short drop to 50 and for me that's when I get shaky and light-headed and I can be out in a second.  Having said that, I feel pretty good in the 80-100 range and start not feeling great when my sugars get up to 125 or above.

Please contact your doctor to see what they suggest and monitor those sugars religiously for awhile.

60-74 would be to low for me. I do not feel good unless I keep mine in the 80's. I too, came off my meds and my sugar kept dropping. I ate/drank more frequently and when I was newly sleeved I would space out whatever I ate or drank every couple of hours.

I still find (1 year later) I do really well putiing something in my system every three hours. Even if it is a few bites of yogurt, a teaspoon of peanut butter or cottage cheese, etc. My A1C was 5.0. I have not seen that is 10 years.

As always, check with your Dr if you think something is not right.

Best Wishes on your journey!!!!
