I'm 5'4" 122 lbs. and I eat 1500-1900 calories a day (usually closer to 1800-1900 calories)  and exercise 3 times a week for 30 minutes. Been maintaining at that calorie level for a long time with no regains and no problem.

This thread has been SO eye-opening and educational for someone who is approaching maintenance and trying to figure out what that's going to look like!

Im 58, 5'2" and usually weigh 111-114 pounds. I eat 1500 calories per day.

I'm less than two years post op, just starting second year in maintenance. I run three times a week October through May but do no formal exercise through the rest of the year. My weight does not fluctuate with those changes, nor does my caloric intake.

This is by far the most important thread that I have seen on this forum. It is a topic that has confused me from the beginning of my research. I could not understand how a relatively healthy male could eat 600-800 calories a day and not continue losing weight. I considered it to be a bit unsafe in the long run.

Now I am understanding it much better now. If I want to weigh 140 lbs, I should consume about 1400 calories per day, plus a variable amount to account for exercise. This actually makes sense.

Thank you to the OP for creating this. Now I will not be afraid of going into maintenance. I am 100 lbs away from that point, but I plan on being there by this time next year.

1500 to 1800 average for me too. I hit that most days, with a couple of days a week higher and a couple lower each week.  I'm 5'6", 135 lbs., 58 years young, and have been at goal 2.5 years. If I get out of goal range, I cut back to 800-1200 per day.

The only people I know who claim if you get a VSG, you will be on a diet for the rest of your life are people who haven't got one. When I would ask how they know what it's like to have a VSG when they had some other type of WLS, they'd tell me I'm just not far enough out yet and I'LL SEE!!! And every year when I'd ask, the number of years they'd claim I'd have to be out from surgery in order to have a credible opinion on what it's like to have a VSG would go up by 1. So apparently someone who never had a VSG is supposed to be more believable than someone whose had one and is 2, 3, even 4 years out. Sure, honey.

Anyway, I'm 5' even, 57 years old and - at this point - almost 6 years out from surgery. I maintain around 125 pound. Give or take. Right now I work out about 5 hours a week doing endurance type stuff -- running, swimming, biking with some strength training thrown in. I have no idea what I'm eating right now, but when I last logged religiously (I logged starting about 7 months pre-op and kept it up until about 4 years post-op), it was about 1500-1700 when I barely worked out and around 2000-2100 when I was training for an Ironman (about 10-15 hours a week)

Elina thanks for posting!  I am 5'10", 37years old, settling between 155-160lbs.  Eating on average 1500 calories but flexing between 1200-1800.  I don't track any activity but also do not have any exercise routine.  I have only been in maintenance for a couple of months so this is very helpful for me to see what others are doing.  I still aim to eat 90g of protein and try to limit my food carbs to 60g.  So far so good but I am still learning more than I know!

To maintain I need to eat less than 1000.  I gain on anything more.  I am 59, post menopausal have thyroid and parathyroid problems that are managed with meds. I don't exercise like a fiend but try to get 3 miles of walking/swimming in per day.  I am one of the unlikely onea that have to stay low.
