Submitted, Approved, Date Set, all in 2 Days!

OK, so yesterday I called my program office to ask if the office manager ever called my insurance company (Blue Cross/Blue Shield of MI/MESSA) to verify that I had no additional out-of-pocket cost, other than meeting my $500 deductible. I am babbling here, but last Friday, she called to tell me that I still owed $1500 because the insurance company had a cap on what they would pay in-network. She said she had checked online and this is what she found. I told her she needed to call them.

Anywho, she called today evidently and found that I didn't owe anything, that they approved me, and she set my surgery date for 9/23! My pre-surgery visit is 9/5. I can't even believe it. Reality is setting in and now I am kind of nervous. Not nervous because of having the surgery, I have had my share in the past. But now I am nervous about how successful I will be afterward; if I will have vomiting fits - I am prone to those, ever since I started my extremely painful monthlies (TMI!); gas pains, leaks; hair falling out. Lord give me strength!

Anyway, I am excited that the date is set, and because I am going to try and sneak in some MUCH NEEDED vacation time during my recovery time

Congrats Dawn!  I have same surgeon and am scheduled to meet him Sept. 18.  I'm scareD of not being approved by insurance because I have no serious comorbidies, however I've been through three medical supervised diets in the past.  Two of which were with GHP in the last four years.  I've kept off 50 of the pounds, but am still considered obese.  Keeping my fingers crossed.  Very excited for you and a new chapter in your life.

Thanks so much. Kudos to you for keeping off 50 pounds, that is terrific! Good luck with getting approval and scheduled. You will do great. You are the first person on OH that I have found has the same surgeon. Are you planning to attend any of the support meetings?
