The cost of nutrition
I'm spending less. Instead of spending at least $5/day for lunch, I'll bring a pouch of tuna to work - cost $1.50. I bought a pork loin for around $10 and made pulled pork in the crockpot, then bagged it up in 2oz portions - got almost 30 meals out of it!
Yeah, I'm bothered by the cost of the vitamins and protein shakes/powder, but when I factor in the cost of my food, I'm still spending less than I used to.
I am a binge eater & I am only about 6 wks out. Before surgery, I calculated that just my junk food costs with take out meals, to total over $500/mon. My groceries were $1000/mon. ( for just me...no family). Then I bought lots of the latest wonder supplements to help me feel better and to prevent binges. Then I purchased over the counter medications to combat some of the side effects of my obesity, such as pain killers for my sore knees and back.
I have now saved all that junk food money, plus my freezer & pantry are still full & I am spending $15/wk for fresh stuff. I have calculated that these savings will have paid for my self pay sleeve in 2 years. Not a bad deal I think.
