I was going back and forth between RNY and vsg. Bc my diabeties is so bad ( a1c is 9.3).. My surgeon recommended rny. That was never an option that I wanted.. But knowing that it's affects on reversing diabeties is greater.. Left me stuck. Since RNY was never an option in the beggining.. I'm sticking to what I'm comfortable with having.  Vsg tentative date fir February 11.. If my blood sugars cooperate! Go with your gut!

Thanks a million, B/C now my gut is telling me "sleeve".  After I speak with my surgeon next week, That my be around my projected date too. I've made many posts about having RNY B/C that was the only option available to me at the time. So afraid to do it, I never set a definite date with my surgeon. I have a feeling that I will probably start the pre-op diet soon.

You all should go the the seperate boards and ask long termers in both surgeries.  Then head on over the revision board. A restriction procedure is just that. Restriction only. Whether it is a band or a sleeve. If diabetes or reflux are issues you are concerned about, You will still have both after.  You won't have to deal with reflux with a bypass and you have a greater chance of your diabetes going into remission. The sleeve is a relatively newer procedure so the long term stats aren't out there.  The RNYrs gain back all their weight is crap. We lose more, faster. Once we all reach goal then it has nothing to do with your procedure rather than your self control. I have good friends who have done well with both surgeries.  Vsg wasn't available to us when I had my surgery but I still would have never chosen a restriction only procedure for myself. I never wanted the band because I knew it was to easy to eat around it. I haven't had the easiet time recently but I still would choose the RNY again.

The suggestion to go to the Revision board and ask there is the best advice.

Lost 271lbs with my LapBand in 22 months!  My Band malfunctioned and I gained almost 42lbs and then revised to the Sleeve 9/24/12!  I lost another 140 lbs with my Sleeve!  Loved the LapBand and Lovin' The Sleeve!
