Is decaf coffee a diuretic?

Does it count towards my 64 oz? It is approved as a beverage by my surgeon and nut.

Hi Hydro, yes, all coffee is a diuretic- and I believe it does count since it is a liquid.  I count it anyway!  someone else can weigh in their thoughts.... Dee

The diuretic effect of coffee is overstated.  Hell, water is a diuretic, too!  Drink your coffee, count it as fluid.  If you feel the need, increase your water consumption to offset the coffee, but it's really not necessary.

My DR. and nut says decaf should be counted as water.

Pretty much all liquids are diuretics. That just means they make you pee. The real question is will it dehydrate you instead of hydrate you . . . no! Not even full test coffee will dehydrate you. The whole "coffee is dehydrating" thing is a myth.

Decaf drinks are counted as our Liquid intake - I am naughty and do caffeinated and decaf drinks and seem to be fine.  I do drink a ton of water anyway...But if you every get "stopped up" regular coffee is the trick or the old Senokot which has saved me several times.
