Hello, I am new to the site and am one week post-op lap band and was wondering is it normal to have a sort of softball tightness in my chest when I inhale? Also, did anyone else experience feeling like they don't even have a band? Except you know you do because of the incisions? Confused and worried please reply. Thank You Kasey

Kasey , that concerns me . I am still pre-op , but have you called your surgeons office ? I don't want to scare you but I think you need to make sure you don't have pneumonia . Welcome to the board . Please let us know what you find out . Kathy

Thank you for responding Kathy. My surgeon's office said that if I was that concerned about it I should call 911. (nice huh!) I regualarly have asthma and don't feel like I have any sort of cold or flu bug. Spoke to a local bandster today and she said she experienced something kind of similar right after surgery. I am more concerned about being one week post op and not having limitations on my food intake. ie: I experimented with a couple little things like a piece of pasta or a cracker. No tightness, nothing. (However, everything was chewed extrememly well) Wondering now if maybe since I had over 24hrs of vomiting post op that I have a slipped band. I'll let you all know. My post op appointment is on Monday. Thanks again Kathy for the welcome and response. Kasey

I sure hope your band didn't slip . That would be awful . Do let us know what the doctor said . Kathy

Kasey, the best bet is to report this to your doctor. I have heard of liproscopic surgey having this type of effect on people. Also that full feeling might feel like that too. Everything is different now and new. Let us know what you find out... hugs, Aunt Pam
