If It's not one holiday its another
Seems like just yesterday, I was reading how people were dealing with Halloween candy. Now it's yet another eating festivity. It just hit me.... duhhhh we will always have a holiday, birthday, excuse to eat. We have to just maintain control throughout these. I was contemplating not eating today to make up for the more than normal calorie intake i anticipate tomorrow. But isn't that what i did pre surgery???? Oh yes, and it didn't work then so why would it work now. I need o not set myself up for failure and just realize the power is mine. I have the tool. Thanks for listening... I hope this will help someone else too.

You are so right. There will always be a holiday around the corner. And if it is not a holiday it will be someone's birthday, anniversary, etc. So, we have to decide that these occasions be just like any other day and eat how we know we should eat. It is so easier said than done. That is why I always make sure to have a plan of action and know ahead of time how I plan to handle the festivities. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. LOL. Good luck to you through the holidays.

Turkey is a fine dense protein source. Eat as much of it as you can tomarrow.
Really.
Think about it.
My pouch at 14 months out, can hold about 7oz of meat. That's two servings of turkey. I know from experience, that those two servings will stuff me bad enough to help me limit my dessert intake to just a sliver of pie.
At most, I anticipate my thanksgiving dinner to be in the calorie range of about 500 to 700 calories...counting the pie.
I could do that 5 times tomarrow..counting the pie, and be at or under my maintenence calorie level. Will I? I doubt it...but I will gorge on the turkey.
Use your pouch and be smart. Load up on the meat and skip the pure fat, sauce laden things and carbs.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well said re: eating as much turkey as is possible .. because that helps curb and limit the dessert demons! Since I find having just the meat a big boring .. I also 'indulge' with a variety of vegetables. Very satiating indeed.
This is one way of how I manage to keep things under good control and it DOES work!

I agree~its never ending. That's why I said I'm going to enjoy my meal to the fullest and then that's it~its over and done with. Friday its back to my normal routine. Everyone, wls or not, deals with this throughout the year. You just can't get carried away for days~ya gotta know when to get back on the wagon so to speak! Happy Thanksgiving!
