Fierce cravings

Hi there. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I am detoxing from carbs and sugar. My cravings for both are very fierce right now. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting over this hump? I had seen the posts about hoodia patches, but I don't have one handy at work here! LOL Thanks for any input you might have. Carlita

I try to push protein during those times b/c its filling and takes my mind off of hunger~either actual hunger or head hunger. Sometimes it seems like I eat alot during those times, but at least its good food versus junk. I hope you feel better soon! Tracy B

Thanks, Tracy. I have been doing what you said - eating more protein items, but it seems as though I would need to eat almost non-stop to get these cravings to stop! LOL Well, I guess if that's what it takes for a few days, so be it. I would hate to gain from eating too much protein, but hopefully it will balance out in a few days. Thanks again! Carlita

Carlita, protein load. I usually eat a cheese stick w/deli ham or if I'm craving something crunchy I'll grab a celery stick, raw cauliflower or broccoli. The first couple of days are tough, stick with it in another day or two you should feel much better. Best wishes, Dana

Dana: Thanks. I've been trying to do this, and it seems to be working, well as well as anything can work right now. My brain is screaming for me to feed it carbs, though! I've done this before, but it's been quite a few years, and I forgot how tough it can be. Thanks for your input and support. Carlita

Another thing that works for me, Carlita is Slim Mints. You can get them at Walmart and they are sugar-free. Give it a try! Pam

Thanks, Pam. I'll give them a try next time I'm at Walmart.

I find the cravings very hard too....I am hoping after a few days I will be okay too. I do miss my little piece of chocolate. I have to rememeber that those blasted carbs are between me and the scale....I need them out of the way for that scale to move. Its becoming a mind over matter thing for me. Debbie

Thanks, Debbie. I did fall "off the wagon" a little yesterday. But it wasn't too big of a drop-off (LOL) and I'm back into it today. I'll probably end up with another headache, though, because of my lack of control. But I did see some positive reinforcement from the scale this morning - it had actually moved about 2 or 3 pounds in the direction I wanted! So that made me feel that it's worth it to continue with the carb/sugar fast. Good luck to you Debbie. Carlita

Is having a little sugar-free chocolate bad when detoxing? If not, have some of that. Tracy
