Hey Everyone, Happy Monday!!! Well my weekend ROCKED!  How about yours?  I did the 5k walk for the little kitty's.  They are so cute but I am a doggie person for sure  Then, on Sunday I did a butt busting lower body workout! squats     3 reps of 15    30lbs leg presses   3 reps of 12    90 lbs side step lunges with purple band - 30 steps each rep lunges with 10lbs weights - 30 step rep hamstring curls - 10-20-30lbs 3 reps of 8 leg curls - 10-20-30lbs   3 reps of 8 I am so sore today.  Today you ask?  Well for some reason I have been so sick I can't keep anything down   The only thing staying down is tea.  If I had went to the gym I would have passed out for sure     So I didn't go   So my friends, Did You Move To Lose and Or Maintain Today?  Come on lets kick this week off right!!!!  Let's feel good and look good!!! Stay Strong, Sexy and Sassy!!! Take care, Kathy

Cathy, sounds like a great weekend for you Sorry you aren't feeling good today, hope you will feel better soon. I did get in some exercise today. One mile in 26 minutes, walking between 2.2 mph and 2.8 at  2.0 to 8.0 incline. For me this was a record time. Slowly getting in  the groove of exercising. After I finished that I vacumed and dusted my house. I never thought I would say exercise made me feel better, but it sure does both mentally and physically. Also burning  a few calories doesn't hurt either. Sher

Hi Sher, You are so right.  It doesn't make sense but the more we move the more energy we have... You are doing great my friend.  I too can't walk or run to fast so this is really a good pace!!!! Keep it up.  You are making the others here on the GRADS board look bad.  No one else is posting Well, we will give them until the morning as they do seem to post then!!! You go girl!!! Take care, Kathy

Kathy, I do appreciate your Move to Lose posts although I have rarely joined in.  I was pitifully bad about getting to the gym the months of Apr. & May, got started again once school was out (plus started getting outside and walking/bike riding), but I've been gone the last week and didn't do any exercising to speak of during that time.  So I'm going to try to be more accountable. This morning, I went to the step aerobic class at the gym--I haven't done one of those classes for many, many years.  I liked doing something different than just the usual cardio machines I use there.  Then, after the class, I did some upper body weight work (I will be so sore--haven't done that for quite some time).  This evening, I went bike riding ("casual" pace) w/ 2 friends for about an hr. I hope to be much more faithful to working out.  I was so good about it for 2.5 years post-op, but then I really lapsed.  I'm working on getting my whole act together again, including detoxing from the crappy carbs I've been eating.  That, and the lack of regular exercise, has resulted in an unacceptable weight gain that I'm determined to lose.

Always,
Jo

Hi Jo, It's so GREAT to hear from you!!!  On this thread we count anything that has you movin.  Cleaning house, gardening, shopping anything.  So don't feel you can't post if you didn't go to the gym That being said we are so with you on the slipped up, carb thing.  It seems like once you start eating them it's one more and one more and then the weight comes back on. I am so inspired by you as you realized what you are doing and doing something about it!!  They say don't look back unless you are headed there. You are on the right track and we are here to help you in any possible. Take care, Kathy

Hi Kathy- On Monday I went to the gym. YEAH! I did 45 minutes of weight training and then about 1 1/2 hour yoga class. Have I mentioned I love yoga? Janice

WOW, what a great workout!!!  Anyone that does yoga has my admiration!!!  I tried it and couldn't get off the floor That is a great combination...  Weight lifting and then yoga.  Be sure and let us know how things progress as you work out.  It may inspire others to try what you are doing when they see how great it's working for you... Take care, Kathy

I can actually say YES! I took our youth group on a 3+ mile hike on Monday!  It's one of my favorite trails that I haven't been on since last summer, so it was like visiting an old friend!!  It re-energized me so much that after dinner I was tempted to go for a walk...but wouldn't let myself for fear of over doing it and leaving myself  in pain...and thus giving myself an excuse not to exercise today or tomorrow!!  I can honestly say I feel great, and am anxious to put that baby in a stroller after dinner and head out for a walk! Hope you feel better Kathy!!   Kathy

Hi Kathy, Sore is good, pain is bad...  This is great, not only are you getting out and moving but with all the kids as well.  What a great example you are setting for them. It's strange but the more you move the more you want to do.  Go ahead and take that walk at night and if you find it's to much then back off.  You may surprise yourself... keep up the great work!!! Take care, Kathy

I have been so active I am really proud of myself!  I did all fun things: Saturday I played tennis, Sunday I rode my bike for an hour and Monday I rode my bike for an hour.  I was burned out from the normal gym work out, but today I am ready to hit the free weights again.  It was good mentally to mix things up.  I have decided I have to do something active every day.  That is the only way to take this weight off.  Even when I eat 1300-1400 calories a day the scale doesn't move, so I really have to kick the work outs up.  3-4 work outs a week won't cut it! My best friend who is very thin told me it's harder to loose weight when you don't have that much to loose, I never believed her.  Now I do!  I really have to change my expectations, I was so good last week and I GAINED WEIGHT!      Of course, I realize I didn't put on two pounds of fat in a week, I am probably retaining water, but I still didn't loose!  I remember in the old days when i would join Weigh****chers and loose 9 pounds in a week.
