Howdy Partners, Hope everyone is well and not racing through the day...Tummy's not feeling quite right today so going to really watch what I'm putting into it...This morning I realized how far I have strayed from my Nuts original admonishion(sp?) about fat, she always had a rule during the weigh loss faze regarding consumption of fat - look a the label, then across from the calories on the label there is a number that says calories from fat, multiply the cals from fat x 3, if it is less than or equal to the total cals then it is a good food choice in regards to fat content...Well I haven't been following this rule since I reach goal...Now, its not that my body fat as changed, its great 20% according to the machine my gym has to test body fat, its just that I think the extra fat is affecting my intestinal system and may be why I'm so on again/off again...I'm going to start working on utilizing this rule again and see if it helps... Now onto the food... B - 10 oz banana/choc/coffee protein frappachino S - 1 ritz pb sandwich cracker dipped in white chocolate      1 dk choc dipped pretzel rod      4 oz lf cottage cheese      snak size sf jello L - 3 sausage stuffed mushrooms       1/2 cup salad with cukes, olives and dried fruit and nut mix and 2 servings of balsamic salad          spritzer dressing on top S - 3  cheese crackers       3 sf candies      2 lemon blueberry almond cookies D - 4 steamed shrimp       1/2 cup homemade mac -n- cheese       1/4 cup cuke salad       1/2 cup green beans S - 10 oz sf protein hot cocoa PLUS  -   82 oz water/crystal light TOTALS  =     Cals 1432     Fat 61     Carbs 124     Protein 100 See ya'll...Alesia

Hi Alesia, Shrimp sound good!  I am going to have to get some.... great protein and tasty too.  :-)     I am attempting to up my fat intake and fiber because I am getting slightly constipated.  Unfortunatly with upping the fiber I up the carbs... *sigh*.  Each piece of bread has 5 grams of fiber, the tortilla chips have 4 grams of fiber, etc.  Today I am truly low carb/high fatting it!   8am - 1 piece of low carb bread (Healthy Life) w/ 4 tbs of JIF Crunchy Peanut Butter  10am - 1 dill pickle spear wrapped in 2oz of ham, 1 oz of munster cheese , 2 pieces of low carb bread toasted w/ lots of butter and cinnamon-splenda, a handful of tortilla chips  12pm - 1 piece of low carb bread, lots of peanut butter and low sugar jelly , 1 serving of soy/flax tortilla chips  1pm - 2 more ham/cheese/dill pickle roll-ups (about 4oz of ham, 2 oz of cheese)  2pm - 1 package of sugar free Mentos , handful of macadamian nuts  3pm - 2 South Beach bars  4pm - 8oz hamburger patty cut up with 2 slices of american cheese and bbq sauce on it (low carb bbq sauce)  5pm -  6oz of  full fat cottage cheese w/ Mrs. Dash  6pm - 6oz of leftover pork chop with onion and bacon on top  9pm - 6oz of gyro meat in a whole wheat (22 grams of carbs, yikes!) pita pocket, cucumber sauce ,  3 scoops of breyers icecream in a cake cone  Make yourself a good day! They sound great!!  I will have to look at them.  I can do more bread now than I could right after surgery, but I try to limit it (especially the white stuff!). Thanks for the tip! Cindy

Hi Cindy, It's so weird the differences between DS'rs and RNY'rs, however looking over your food it seems you did a pretty great job of getting in higher in fat choices and managed to avoid the carbs pretty well, so looks like a for you... Hope today was just as good...See ya in the postings...  Alesia

The differences are weird... I thought distal RNYers had the same (or almost?) intestine reconfig as DSers ?  I don't know how many RNYers are distal versus proxys.    I only absorb (according to studies) between 20-40% of the fat I eat.  So if I don't eat enough fat I get constipated.  Talk about shift in thinking... it's hard to eat full fat butter, cheese, etc when you're not used to it! My  LDL Cholesterol was in the "low" range (flagged as low) and my HDL was firmly in the normal range... so I am happy about that!  :-) Take care and hope your day went well - food choices and everything else! Excellent choices today Gina, stick to this kind of plan and you will ditch those few extra's in no time...You are doing a great job of getting back on track...A suggestion, watch the real sugar as much as possible and see if you can up your protein to about 80 a day without putting in too many more cals, I think if you do both of these it will power up your losing strategy.... See ya later...Alesia

Hi Alesia~ Glad you are back at the helm of things!! Hope the craziness gets better for you.....it must be, and you must have sent it all the way here to Cali!! A carby day, but I am PMSish~not too bad, though.  Today is another day!! B:  special K protein cereal       2 (4 oz servings) of carb control yogurt S:   Quaker multigrain rice cake w/ 1 serving of turkey slices        2 chocolate chip cookies L:   1 slice of turkey       1/4 of a ciabatta roll (it got stuck, so I stopped-not that I could have eaten much more!) S:   2 Quaker multigrain rice cake w/ 1 serving of turkey slices D:   1 Asian pork bun (too doughy, though) S:    Austin peanut butter crackers. Totals:  1104 cals    120 carbs    16 fats    47 protein Fluids:   84 ozs w/ tea, C. light and water. A tad stressed yesterday, pmsish too.  did alot of self talk about how the cabinet couldn't change how I was feeling so I just needed to stop eating!  It must have worked (albeit after the carb damage was done!!) since I stopped eating and went to bed. As I stated, today is another day and I will pay attention to; my feelings and what I need emotional vs. nutritionally. Have a great day!!! I AM THE CAPTAIN OF MY OWN SHIP!! Anjanette

Hi Anjanette, Day doesn't look so carb-full as you see it, in my eyes...Does look like you are on a turkey kick though , which is great cause turkey is good for you, just don't start spitting out feathers OK ...Know what you mean about the PMS thing, when Aunt Flo is in town my candy cravings just get out of control, not a good choice even though I usually go for sf choices... Hope today worked out better, see ya for tomorrow for today's food... Alesia
