Slippery slope

Well, it's happening to me like it could happen to anybody who is careless.  I'm headed down that slippery slope.  After several months of maintaining at above my goal, my weight has slowly started to creep up.  I shouldn't really be surprised.  I've been careless about my eating habits.  It's hard to undo a lifetime of bad choices, and I shouldn't make excuses, but I do anyway.  I'm tired today, I deserve a treat.  Just one piece won't hurt. Etc, etc, I'm sure you're all familiar with the litany.  I should know what to do, but I'd like to solicit some advice.  How do you manage to keep on track?  218/208/138/115 4'11"

Hi Sheryl! I try to remember how good I feel about myself when I do the right thing, just for me. I keep a picture of myself at 374 pounds on the fridge door and in my purse. Looking at that usually helps! I also have my old pants, size 28 that I pull out when I need to! Good luck, you are not alone in this struggle!

i just starting wrting everything that goes in my mouth down. look at my page and see what i did. it shows me what i've done right and it shows me when i do something wrong. i can look back and see what i need to change. remember we are human and food is everywhere, we just need to know how to pick and choose and everyone has a slip here and there it's not going to hurt, don't beat yourself up. just don't eat the whole thing, one bite turns into another. if you can, don't even take that bite. hth =) smile... gina

As the previous people have said keep track of what and how you eat.  it takes longer for our head to figure this whole thing out then our body to lose all the weight and then a little regain puts the brakes on and reality arrives.  Just keep in touch and we will support you the best as we can.  i have been back on track for 1 week now with a wt loss of 4 lbs.  i have 16 to go to get to my gola after 2 years.  We can do this!!!  Sheila

Welcome aboard!! You've made the right "first choice" by turning to your peers for help. If anyone can relate, it's us. We all know what a "head battle" this is. It is hard to undo a lifetime of bad eating choices but it CAN BE DONE and YOU can do it!! Take the advice of others and stay connected so you can get some support. We're sorry you need to be here, but GLAD you came in.     Hugs,  Piggybabe

I KNOW how easy it is to excuse one piece of this and a bit of that!!! Oh, I'm so guilty of it!!  Personally, I set a limit for myself and I'm sticking to it. My goal weight is 130. So I decided that I'd give myself a 5 pound flux. If I get to 136 though - I'm instantly back to the basics and pulling in the reins!!  I haven't had that happen yet. I log my food on fitday.com and that keeps me more aware of what I'm doing. On the days I eat something high in fat, calories, or whatever... I make it up by being careful the rest of the day!!!  I "should" also tell you about the importance of exercise - but that'd make me a total hypocrite since I don't exercise at all. ROFL You can do it!!! This tool works well!!!  HUGS
