Hey All, I am doing okay these days. I haven't lost anything since January and then to top things off I fractured my right foot. So exercise for. I had the walking cast on all summer. Here is a item I am dealing with I have been near fainting spells since the end of Aug. I have been to see the ENT and Neurologist. These cant seem to figure out. Why I'm going through this or just that I started going through menopause Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks Steph

How are your sugar levels?? I became reactive hypoglcemic (or something like that)  and I would get bad fainting spells. I guess my sugar would spike after eatting (even though I didn't eat bad foods) and then a bit later it would bottom right out!!! soooo not fun!!   I ended up eatting six or seven small meals per day to try and keep  my sugar level even. This helped a lot.  Hope you find out the cause of this and get thing corrected very soon.  HUGS

Hi Laurie, They told me that my sugar levels are fine, unless they were not looking in that way as of yet. Now I have to make an appointment to see the cardio spec. Thanks for your help Stephanie

"They" wouldn't know what your sugar levels are if you experience the hypoglycemic attacks. Mine invariably shows a nice steady 83-93 in labs, but in real life, it can drop like a stone for no apparent reason.

But since you had a bone injury, I am now taken with the idea of BPPV. You said you already saw ENT. Did they do any testing that involved moving you? They moved you, not you moved you? I know that after foot surgery, I suffered for 9 months with severe nausea, dry heaves, dizziness. Lost down to 101#, which is too low, and didn't feel good, due to the nausea. Checked my WLS for everything possible, but my PCP and I realized at some point that my pouch probably was the victim, not the cause. So, he sent me to ENT specializing in balance and they did a specific test that showed the BPPV. Couple painless treatments and I was done with it. Um, goes without saying that the wt came right back to where it is once the nausea was gone.

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

How's your blood pressure? If you have low blood pressure and stand up suddenly, you can get lightheaded pretty easily. Is that when it happens -- right when you stand?

If so, you could try just getting up more slowly to give those receptors time to adjust your blood pressure. Also, my daughter has this (it's called postural hypotension) and they recommend increasing fluid intake as well as salt intake. I had a similar thing happen once in awhile when I was really anemic; I think it's the same thing (not enough oxygen to the brain) but I've noticed that since getting my hematocrit back to safe levels it's much better.

Hope this helps a little. Be careful, okay?

Take care,

Vickie

I hope they find the cause of this for ya .. I know it can be miserable .. I too started having reactive hypoglycemic issues about 2 years after my surgery .. it was severe enough that I have had 6 seizures from it .. first one was Feb 6, 2005 and the last one was July 3, 2007 .. and when I was taken to the hospital with the first one I was kept there about a week and it was diagnosed as reactive hypoglycemia and then the neurologist that I see for the seizures said that my 'vertigo' was BPPV .. I still think having the surgery was well worth it even with having to deal with all of this .. I'm sure they will find a cause and a treatment for ya ..
