Hi all! I had gastric bypass about 5 years ago.I lost about 150 lbs.Since surgery ive had 2 daughters one in 2004 and one in 2006.Since my second was born ive gained like 50 lbs.Im hungry all the time and can eat alot at one time.Im assuming I have stretched my pouch and now theres no way to lose the weight ive gained.Anyone else going thru this? Ive heard of people have revisions....is that getting your pouch restapled? Any advice or info would be great! Thanks!

I don't know if you've stretched your pouch or not but you can certainly lose your extra weight even if the pouch is stretched.  Change your eating habits back to what you know they should be and exercise every day.   Don't think about putting yourself under the surgeon's knife again without pulling up your socks and getting tough with your self!

I've heard of people getting revisions to DS (generally believed to be most effective) or having a LAP Band placed over your pouch. there's a revision board on OH you may want to try or the DS forum

Hi, I'm also 5 years PO and have gained about 30lbs back so I feel you!  First off take a step back and a deep breath, you have realized the problem now lets get back on track (I'm including myself in this).   I went to my doc yesterday and we had a long talk about how to get this weight back off.   I have seen this over and over again on this board, in fact I posted one of them myself, but now I'm ready to take charge again.  I was told to go back to the basics, write down everything I eat and drink (64oz of water, crystal light, or any other SF type water based drink).  He told me to eat protein first, then vegetables and carbs if I need them.  I need to stay away from Chocolate, I'm a terrible chocoholic and have never dumped on it... ugh!  Remember how we felt when we first had our surgery and were afraid to eat anything we weren't told we could eat?  I asked him how much I should be eating.  He said to eat until I was full but if I couldn't tell when I'm full to eat about 6oz and take a break and to drink water 30 minutes before or after meals.  He said I would probably think I'm hungry for a week or so but it would be head hunger and not stomach hunger.  He told me a revision wasn't for me, that I hadn't damaged my pouch, I just needed to get back on track.  I also need to up my excersize.  I made another appointment with him in December, I'm hoping for 10lbs but I'm not stressing about it.  Anyway, I hope this helps.  I am starting it on Monday officially but I have already started making changes.  Keep in touch if you'd like, best of luck!!!   Take charge!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there, First of all, I totally feel your pain and have been there myself for close to a year. I felt like I had tried everything.  Finally, at the urging of many of the grads here, I started to eat right and exercise. Now, I limit my carbs, track it all on Fitday,  and have been working out like a mad woman and it is working. I started out at 252, got down to 147, back up to 173 and now am losing again finally and am down to about 168. My goal is to get back to the 140's! Do you notice how many "riews" this post has had and how many responders? Well, please hear me when I say that means that a lot of people are in your position and it is a huge problem. It's not that they don't care...it's just that they are in the same boat! IT is so hard but it is possible to lose again! Good luc****ep coming here for support. I even make my browser automatically direct me here when I log onto the net. It helps.  Molly

Hi, I'm new and haven't even had the RNY but plan on it soon. I'm reading you alls problems with gaining  even after the procedure. I hope you don't mind that. It helps me to understand  what I'm about to undergo. I had the vertical banding in 98 and gained all my weight back and some,, so depressed .  did lots of research andfound  out about revsion surgery and I'm going for it.  I wish you all the will power in the world to loose your weight cause I wouldn't wish weight problems on my worse enemy. besides what everyone else says, have your hormones checked - having babies can really screw them up. Check your thyroid, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol, dhea - everything. You might be surprised that you need some adjustments that will help you get the weight off. My thyroid was completely hard and I felt so tired all the time but my tests were coming back as low normal. Well, I finally talked my doctor into upping my Armour Thyroid and boy what a difference it made. I know am running 3-5 miles a day and feeling so much better and the 20 lbs is starting to come off bit by bit. Good luck! Diona

IN addition to the EXCELLENT posts already made I'd like to add a couple of things. First off, whether you realize it or not, you've already made the HARDEST step-just by posting here. Yes, there are "perefecr WLSers" who walk among us, but there are also LOTS of folks, who struggle, just like you and me. A few months ago I just finally got sick of myself. I was CONVINCED I needed a revision. As it turned out the only TOOL needing a revision was my BRAIN. My pouch was in perfect working order. I was actually disappointed NOT to need more surgery-how sick is that?? I tried doing the "Time Out" of nothing but protein shakes for several days--I wasn't tough enough. I DID have some some success with the "Plateau Buster", but what really seemed to get me on track was the "5 day retrain your pouch" thing Kaye Bailey uses. I can't post the link here, because that might be miscontrued as advertising (even though her newsletters are free), but if you'd like the the info, PM your email address. I have since lost 20 lbs of my regain, but mostly I have REGAINED self estemm and the ability to hold my head and KNOW I can re-whoop this thing. Best of luck to you-YOU CAN DO THID--Oh-and congrats on those baby girls!!

Wow, I just read over it and it makes a LOT of sense and sounds doeable.  Google this: "5daypouchtest". You will get two hits. Click on one and it will take you to the plan Kaye suggests.  If you do an internet search for Kaye Bailey you will get a ton of stuff as there is a politician with that name, LOL! Molly
