Do you look older since you lost weight?

I was 47 when I had my surgery. I got down to 141 and I am 5"8' I looked sick. Cheeks sunken in dark circles under my eye you could see every bone on me. I then started to feel a little better and now I stay between 153 and 156. I look better even though I would have liked to stay about 145. People thought I was dying or something. As someone else said you have to find the weight that you both feel and look good at. It might mean putting on a few pounds to fill out a little. Do I have more lines on my face yes I do but I am lucky my arms do not hang and neither does my neck.  And YES you need to go get that new haircut maybe some color to make you feel young and hip. Get your nails done wear makeup by some clothes that make you feel great. All are a passion for me now including SHOES and BAGS. I use to wear tennies black t-shirts xxl and jeans to work everyday. Now I am dressing like I feel young and I will be 50 next month.  Don’t wait for your hair to grow out go do it now it will make you feel so much better. And you are right get a good cut from the very high-priced salon. And by the way you look great.

Thanks to all of you - I feel better now. It helps so much to know you have all had these problems and that you've gotten past them.

I think you look great.  From the picture it doesn't look like you need any work done at all.  You and I are the same weight (and have the same name!).  I'm a little older than you and have considerable loose skin on my face.  I plan on getting a face lift in a few months.  We've worked too hard to not see it through to the end!   I think your daughter may be right.  Hairstyle and make-up can make a huge difference.  If you aren't happy with your current appearance (I still think you look fantastic though) try experimenting with an updated style.  That might buy you a few years before you consider PS.

I'm quite a bit older than you are, I'll be 55 next month.  I also carried a lot of weight in my face and neck, so when I lost weight I lost a lot there.  I agree with the others, wait and see how you feel after everything 'settles'... For me, I still had significant jowls and neck skin after everything settled. I decided to have a face/necklift. This was last year, and I'm so glad I did. There are pictures (some scary) on my picturetrail, the link is at the bottom of my signature line. You don't really look like you have so much excess skin as I did, you look great to me! Hugs,

My hands look a lot older. My body looks like an 80 year old woman's without clothing.... With clothing I look okay, but I have a lot of extra skin and stretch marks that are visible when I wear short-sleeve shirts. It disgusts me (and I know that's just plain old vain of me.) Every day I look in the mirror and try to figure out a way to afford to get plastics to remove excess skin. I'm not 30 yet, so I know I have to live in this body for a while still - my only hope is that maybe when I do hit 30 next year, I'll be in a better financial situation and can afford the $20k loan....
