Congrats on the loss, but I'm a little confused.  Are you saying your BMI is currently 23.2, but that you still want to lose another 20.5 pounds?  Based on your weight (135.5) and BMI, your height is around 5' 4".  If you lose down to 115.5, your BMI would be 19.8, which would technically make you underweight.  Just as being overweight is unhealthy, so is being too small.  If you are following your surgeon's advice and your nutritionist's advice, it's probably fine.  But be careful to stay healthy; after all, isn't that what it's all about??? Good luck on your continuing journey.  Kellie

Natalie, I have to ask the same question that Kellie asked, is your BMI already normal and you want to lose 20.5 more lbs.?

Hi everyone, Yes, ideally I'd like to loose 20.5 more lbs, which would put my weight at 115. That is 19something BMI, which is still in the healthy range (BMI lower than 18.5 is considered underweight). My surgeon is aware of and comfortable with my goal. i understand that 115 would put me on the lower end of a "healthy' range. However, i am small-framed so it would be by no means unhealthy for me. Also, I really was not overweight until 4 years ago and, prior to that, felt most comfortable/healthiest at around 118-120 lbs, eating around 2000 calories/day. I put my number at 115 to allow a little room for re-gain and, if i end up settling at around 125, i'll be fine with that. i'm in no danger of developing anorexia--live food too much. even now, i'm getting at least 1200 calories/day (and an average of 80-100g protein), whereas my surgeon usually recommends 800.

Natalie, when I read your post this morning, I thought the same thing as some of the others, wondering if you would just disappear from sight after losing that much weight. I guess if you're comfortable and healthy, that's what matters most. I am where the charts say I should be (137 pounds, 5'5), so I guess that means I have a perfect body. : ) Anybody that sees me naked wouldn't think so though.

Well Wanda, you look pretty awesome in your blog photos and you can't argue with the charts (perfect body is perfect body) so i'm sure you look great naked also:) remember, we are our own harshest critic plus it takes our brains at least 6 months to adjust to our new perfect (or near perfect) bodies:)

Am I the only confused person here???  You're 5'5" 135 pounds an you WANT to lose 20 more pounds??? What the heck????? Your profile says that you're currently a size 2.  I'm sorry but this definately has the ring of eatting disorder to it. Why would you purposly want to endanger your health to be that small?? Being at the lowest bmi number in the normal range puts you in danger of becoming very under weight with just the smallest illness (like the flu).  I don't understand the logic here at all.
