I am 4 years out and have gained 45 pounds.  I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?  I do not feel full as some of my friends do who have had GBS.  I can eat a whole chicken breast and a salad and still not feel full.  Has anyone heard of having a revision?  Any help is appreciated. Some here have done the 5 day pouch test and had good results.  Check past posts for information on it. I am sure others with revisions will post for you too.there might even be a forum on obesity help for that. we all have bounceback, but I suspect you have let your eating habits get sloppy and not kept up exerc ise.  Perhaps a food journal for a week will help you.  Are you eating white carbs, bread, and sugar? Most liikely the culprits.  Go back to the basics, and see what you can do to knock off some weight.  Old habits are hard to break, but accountability and those who also struggle walking along side and encouraging you will help you be successful!  Don't give up, just change your bad habits! We are here to cheer you on! blessings, Tami

I'm right there with you!!!    I'll be 4 years out on 11/17. I got down to 114 and even though my BMI said that was ok both my PCP and WLS doc said that was to thin for me. I might be short but both said I have a large frame and wanted me to gain a little.  Well I gained a little to much and am now trying to lose a few pounds and get to a good weight for ME. I also do not get as full or as fast as I use to and I'm back to measuring my meals.   I haven't tried the 5 day test yet I know for me I have to me in the right mind set and that just hasn't happened yet.  If you want more info on a revision there is a revision board here at OH. We're all here learning together.  Good Luck, Robin

4'10" - 47 I'm short but not petite and I will weigh more than a 5th grader

I am also four year and have gained 50 lbs and went to my Dr on Monday and he put me on his time out for two weeks and then call him and he will let me know what to do then. I am on Isopure , crystal lite and water for the next two weeks. On day two. Good luck  in whatever you decide to do. Debra

First, thank you for responding.  Also, what is his time out and Isopure.  I read about the 5-day test and was going to try that.  Will talk soon. Julie

As someone mentioned, people have been doing the www.5daypouchtest.com diet which seems to shrink the pouch and stoma without any surgery needed. Also, I've been hearing rumors lately about a surgical fix to the shrink the stoma -- stomaphyx. Before you look into it though, you need to have your surgeon check to see if that's your problem. He can examine your stoma with a GI tube and verify it.

Hi Julie, I'll be 4 years post op on 1/12/08.  I too have gained 45 lbs over the last year.  I'll blame some of it on my hysterectomy.  Anywhooo, I am struggling to get at least 25lbs off.  I did the 5 day pouch test, for 2 weeks and lost 7 lbs. in the first week only.  I also began exercising (striving for 5 days per week), I'm only on my second week of this.  My scale did finally move again.   My lowest weight was 155lbs, but I felt I was too thin.  I then began to put on weight and did nothing about it, and a year later it was 45 lbs. I put on.  On Oct 12th of this year, my scale read 202lbs, and I began the 5 day pouch test.  I have been struggling to loose more.  On yesterday my scale said 193 lbs.  So that's 9 lbs within a months time.  I'm going to continue to get my exercise 5 days per week, and see what happens.  Once I reset my pouch and head to get off the carb/sugar cycle I was scared to really eat.  So I've kept my caloric intake to below 1000 calories.  This to, I was told was not good because I've probably put my body in starvation mode, and possibly that's why my scale was not moving. I don't know, all I know is I want to loose at least 25 lbs more. I did consider the stomaphx (sp), however it's not covered by my insurance, and here in Columbus it costs $9,500.  I think I can loose these 25 lbs for less than that.  So that's where I am at this point.  Getting more exercise and recording EVERYTHING I put in my pie hole.  LOL.

Hi Julie, Im two and a half years out and have gained 10lbs, but I never got any where near my goal, so that is worse than it sounds.  I know I eat some of the wrong foods, but not a huge amount, so am scared that I wont be able to get a handle on this.  I have tried going back to just fluids and doing the 5 day pouch test, but keep failing at it.  Keep your chin up, lots of us here are going through the same thing. hugs, Helen
