There is always the OTC products that are somewhat safe, as you said you don't have to lose much and I think they would be doable,,,a safer alternative and give you the boost ya need.

I think if doctors are saying it's not right for you, maybe it's time to listen to the doctors advice.  Prescription drugs sometimes have adverse effects on different situations, perhaps these particular drugs could "burn" your pouch...or cause some other unknown side effect.   If it makes you feel any better, these drugs do not work anyway.  In study after study, even approved drugs like Alli have been found to cause statistically insignificant amount of weight loss (like less then 3 percent).  Your surgeon gave you a wonderful tool....maybe you could do the 5 day pouch test...and gain back some of your restriction......that would probably do more for you then any type of drug. I  do not think you should be offended that a Dr. gave you sound medical advice based on his best judgement. A docs job is not to just hand out any drug you ask for but to care for you in an appropriate, medically sound way that is in your best interests..   If diet pills worked there would be no need for gastric bypass. pills dont change out lifestyle for long term success.  give an honest assessment of your eating and exercise habits and see if you are working the plan. If you are doing the right things - eating for health, counting your protein and calories and avoiding processed sugars and junk food, then - if I were you - my next step would be to see a gastric bypass dr and make sure your tool is intact and functioning properly, to review your nutritional habits, and exercise habits to see that yo are doing the right things to lose and maintian a healthy weight.  there are a lot of myths and mistaken info out there as to what an appropriate diet should look like. If the surgery is  intact then If you are a wls patient who is struggling with weight gain  my suggestion is to work to learn why this is happening through nutrtional and psychlogical  counseling,  It is a lot harder than taking a pill, but a lot more effective in the long run.  if the surgeon finds something is not intact or functioning properly that will give you a place to start to fix the problem.
