Wow, you all are doing great! Kathy with your arms—I think that my arms would fall off if I did shoveling and then a workout on top of that!

Tmac—stairs are a great way to get oxygen into your body!  Oxygen burns calories!!

Deb—yes it’s so cold here in MN, I love the WATP DVD’s!  I’ll be doing mine tomorrow morning.  The 3-mile is a killer!  Lol

Shandrews—keep up the great work; you’ll grow to love exercising…at least that is what my trainer says and he also says that your brain will start putting hormones into your body to make you feel pleasure when you move!  Great news for us, huh?

I had a meeting yesterday at work (I wrote that we’re doing a fitness class/reward $500 a few days ago) and it was basically said that exercise does the following:

Reduces stress

Makes you feel happy (from dopamine, or some hormone like that)

Reduces heart disease

Reduces BP

Reduces Cholesterol

Reduces depression (which worsens in the winter months)

Etc.

Just a few more reason to get moving other then to loss weight.

I did 4 sets of 10 for each of the following today

Flys

Bench Press

Lateral Pull

Back Pull

Leg Press

Squats

Leg ups (sitting on a bench and raising my legs to my chest)

I’m shaky but I feel great.  My muscles will be sore tomorrow.

You are on the right road.  Good for you.....yaaaaaaaay. I know how it is.  We all have our little bad habits.  But you don't have to really 'go cold turkey'.   For the night time snacking.....don't eat dinner too early.  Then plan for something late.  Almost every night I have a protein bar and a cup of coffe or tea.   I don't mean a crappy tasting bar, but either an Atkins Caramel double chocolate crunch bar (love nuggets as Melting Mama calls em) or any flavor Oh Yeah bar.  To die for.  And I look forward to it...and I don't feel deprived of my little snack. 2.  You can still go to Starbucks.  I go all the time.  But I make sure the only thing I get is either my own named Cinnamon Slim or a cup of decaf.   3.  Sodas.  Well.  I just gave em up years ago so thats not an issue for me.  Getting in a lot of water however, IS an issue.  I've been doing better lately, but its a struggle for me.  I keep refilling a 16 ounce bottle and try to go through 3 or 4 of those a day for extra fluids. Just remember, calories add up.  Try to avoid candy, even sugar free stuff.  Eat a lot of veggies....cooked and raw.  And of course....white carbs.   Hang in there....I'm right there with ya.   Hugs Charlie

Ya'll are so sweet, thank you!  My hips are hurting today from my ab workout this morning, go figure LOL! As far as Starbucks . . . I love an iced, tall, non-fat caramel macchiato.  Not many calores, high in protein, but a lot of sugar. I promise to check in everyday, I need the motivation!  You all rock!

Hey all you movers and shakers!

Ok, tonight was just a 20 minute walk with the dogs and my 14yr old nephew who seems to spend too much time playing videos, so I geared him up in my husbands cold weather stuff and out we go for the walk.  (did the 3 flights of stairs 4x today so that's going to have to do)

I am trying to break the circle of obesity, (my sister and I are the most healthy) it makes me sad to know that him and his sister are showing all the tell tale signs and are already sedandary and overweight.  So I hope they might learn from example.

Then we had dinner (healthy! and my way!) and put up my 9ft Christmas tree so I am now officially sore and exhausted.

Good night till tomorrow and healthy dreams! Tmac

Oh your Tree sounds so pretty...  And a great way to get a fun workout.  All that bending and reaching... You are right, leading by example is a great.  There is no way anyone is going to listen to you about eating right if you are munching a cheeseburger.  I know I tried and my son didn't listen. Good for you Catcha later....
