protein bars and weight gain
Thanks for the info, but what do you mean about kidney stones? Also, what protein bars do you eat, and where do you get them? I cant stand the taste of the protein drinks. I only drink 2 cups of coffee a day with cream and equal, then I just have a glass of milk at dinner and 1 can of diet sierra mist at dinner. What effects do you think this will have for me in the future? Thanks for your help.
Well, I wouldn't expect you to hold your wt loss over time. Bodies need water, nice clean water with nothing non-water in it. Of course, sugar free beverages are ok in addition to water.
Lack of water allows oxalates from the brown liquids (tannic acids, phosphates) to accumulate and form stones in the kidneys. If you are taking calcium carbonate, that also is a good formula for kidney stones. Calcium CITRATE helps prevent stones, but can't win a losing battle, you know?
Which protein drinks have you tried and how did you make them up? Did I list the proteins I use? I like the Rockin Roll bars and Supreme Bars, but these will not be found at grocery or drug stores.
Milk is basically a glass of sugar, and without the stomach and duodenum, the milk doesn't really offer protein or calcium that is useful to our bodies, however, the calcium can form oxalates in the kidneys. Bummer, huh? No calcium for the bones, but enough to make stones?

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
Just one question ? Yes caf free and sugar free.....but...how much sodium is in that can of soda ? Sodium ( I may be wrong here but...) is not good either. I have recently started drinking the diet soft drinks but it doesn't sit well with my "pouch" so I try to stick with the 4C diet teas/splenda. I try to keep down my carbs ( bagles, bread etc) I found that if it's in the house I will eat it.
Just a thought.
