Always feel cold!
I am a 2 year post-op from Canada and although we have alot of snow here and the temperatures are below freezing right now, I am always cold-even in the summer heat.
I have all my blood work done on a regular basis so I know that my B12, iron and thyroid are all OK. I just cant' figure out why I feel cold all the time. My husband says I don't feel cold to the touch, but I feel cold inside.
Any one else have this problem or know what it could be? Is there something I should be specificially asking my family doctor to check for me?

6 awesome post-op years & NO regrets!

It is pretty common post-op. Just had my 2.5 year labs done and all is great. And I'm cold a good percent of the time too. I was cold right from the hospital before I had actually lost any weight. It was like my thermostat just adjusted during surgery.

I am extremely cold almost all the time. Until I have a mini-hot flash, which is so irritating. The hot flash lasts only about 15 seconds, and then I am even colder than I was to begin with. I, too, am very healthy, lab work is good. This is my third winter as a post-op, and I swear it is only getting worse. I keep hoping at some point I will adjust to my new temperature, but so far,
If any has any suggestions, other than dressing like I am heading for Antartica, please post them.

I am cold all of the time. Even to touch I feel like I am the living dead and my skin gets to be a a pale white with a nice cast of blue to it. Yes my labs have been off lately but the hemotalgist(sp) say it has nothing to due. With being cold because they are not that bad . The heart dr claims it is not due to the minor heart problem I have. They both feel it is due to the fact that I lost so much wt and now my body. Can not find a normal temp that it wants to be at and stay that way.
have a wonderful nite Taichi
Yep, constantly cold. But to be on the safe side you should get your TSH & thyroid levels checked. They affect metabolism and can make you feel colder than usual when they are out of whack (high TSH & low thyroid hormones).

Yup. I used to be called the polar bear in the family...Always warm, even in summer. Never needed a hat or coat...Now I can't go and hang up wet laundry cuz it hurts my fingers. I'm wearing a sweater most of the time even in the summer. I hate going out to eat cuz every restaurant in town turns that thermostat all the way down...For the SMO people out there with all that insulation...LOL. Now I'm a lizard.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

OMG I am FREEZZZZING!!!! I sleep with heating pads all over my bed and wear wool sweaters to bed with thermal socks. I'm 4 months out and am desperate for heat. Once I was sick with an infection and it felt like I was sleeping outside in 20 degree weather. I was shivering and my teeth were chattering. Even my knees were bobbing up and down.It was terrible. I had to buy a space heater for my office and set it to 80 degrees before I was comfortable. I burn out my family and my wallet with the thermostat up so high at home.
