vitamin d deficiency
It's not the short channel that is the problem. It's that the oils/fats do not pass by the liever & pancereas in the correct fashion, hence why even proximal RNY's don't get reliable absorption from fats & oils.
If you get the rocaltrol cheap, what the heck might raise your levels 2-3 pts. LOL

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

I agree with you. My health is very important to me and I appreciate all of the input received on this topic.
Just fyi...the pharmacist quoted me $1636.95 for 12 pills that the doctor prescribed. And yes, my health is most important to me, but don't you think that amount is just a LITTLE absurd???
I went to the vitalady website and will be placing an order this week, thanks to the great advise received from all of you.
Thanks again,
Patti

I was also deficient in Vitamin D, so my surgeon put me on 50,000 units of Vitamin D ... one pill once a week for 8 weeks. Not sure of the cost as my insurance paid it 100%. I would be horrified if a vitamin cost that much though!
Anyway, my labs after 8 weeks were much, much better (though still low), but now I take 1000 IU every day, along with a multi-vitamin with 400 IU's and calcium supplement with more Vitamin D ... I need to get my labs done again soon to make sure I'm absorbing it. I never, ever thought I would be deficient in this b/c I faithfully take my supplements and was even getting outside walking for an hour a day ... But I live in Western NY, which is very, very overcast even in the summer.
Good luck! Make sure to get follow-up labs ...
